Hi Elfraston and Moonstone.
Firstly can I suggest you check back a few pages where there are good reports about knee replacements.
Then can I ask, can I join your group please I'm scared as well.
I had my first one about weeks ago. The surgery was OK, No problem. Just me being anaemic and needing iron tablets etc. I still have some pain but am told that is normal. I had my 6 week visit to the consultant last Friday. The first thing, was it was a registrar not the consultant. That's the first time in years that I haven't seen the consultant. Second thing was, it was more like 9 weeks than 6 weeks.
My other leg was starting to get sore and this registrar looked at it and then looked at the previous X Rays and said this leg isn't far behind the operated one
I've got an appointment in another 6 weeks but that's a long time when you are so sore. I shouldn't be giving you such "down" report about mine but I'm so sore.!!
Love
Eileen

Thank you Eileen...i know i am being a wimp but nearly everyone on here who has had TKR seems to have a negative opinion of the results..i am quite good with pain and expect that i will be hurting but i suffer from anxiety and am finding it hard to control my nerves!
I keep waking up in the early hours and telling myself that i cannot go through with the op but know that i have to if i want to get my life back
My sister had her TKR about 6 years ago and she ha said that the waiting is the hardest part..i am sure my blood pressure has gone up (i don't have high blood pressure or take meds for it) i was thinking of asking for tranquillisers to see if that will help calm me down but not sure my gp would be willing to let me have them (can only ask).
Elfraston..my mother in law had a THR last year, she is 89 and lives alone but after her op she was transferred from hospital (after 5 days) into a nursing home for 2 weeks then had nurses come to her home for a further 6 weeks to help her get mobile again so i am sure that you will be taken care of.

Hi Moonstone,
You are not a wimp. Everyone is nervous about operations. I wasn't too bad with my first hip replacement. I did go onto another site and asked what happened because I knew nothing. Then the second hip replacement I was surprised I was a bag of nervous. I was surprised after having one hip replacement.!!!!! Then my knee replacement I was terrified as well before it.
You can't tell what people will feel like.
You'll be fine.
Love

Hi, Well I had a GP appointment this morning. This other leg was so sore.!
It wasn't my normal GP she wasn't on. It was a horrible one. She told me to go away and come back in about 6 weeks time. No help whatsoever. Anyway she eventually got up opened the door...hadn't been there 10 minutes!
I was almost in tears {because of pain} and as she opened the door {in other words get out} when she saw the way I was she said sorry I'm not very well today!!!!!!! What a cheek. I said well neither am I which is why I came to see you. She didn't sound at all sorry when she said it.
That will be the last time I go to her
Love

You need to complain without a doubt. To your trust. They have to deal with it.

Hi Beswick
I have thought about complaining even if its only to the practice manager at the surgery.............. haven't got round to it yet.
Maybe I should just leave it, what will the outcome be as far as I'm concerned. I have so many things wrong with me that I do rely on my doctor. I would think they would stick together.

Hi Beswick
Just seen your post about thinking to drive. I was in my late 40s before I learned to drive, It did take a bit longer being older I got there. Passed the 2nd time. I would be lost without my car. Number one I don't drive very far but it gets me to the places I need to go to. I find driving is easier than walking now. I have never regretted it
Go for it {I'm 71 now}
Love

Hi @Hileena, @aglowlady, @Efralston, @BeswickM, @Moonstone1,
Hope you are all doing good.
A little reminder on how to use the site's features correctly:
If you address a particular person (or several people at once), don't forget to tag them using "@" before their username, as I did in this post.
How does it work?
After typing "@" and 3-4 letters of the username (NB: there is no space between "@" and the username"!), a drop-down list will appear from which you will be able to choose the right username. Click on it, and it will become blue. That means that you've tagged correctly, and the person you tagged will be notified by email about your comment. They will also get a notification right on the website - on the notifications icon in form of a bell that you see in the right upper corner of your screen.
If you don't tag your interlocutor, he or she may never know that you've answered their question or commented on their post because they will get no notification.
If you have any questions or need help with the website please let me know!
Have a nice Monday!
Margarita
