I'm 41 and was first diagnosed with OA when I was 26. It's always been a thorn in my side and has limited my ability to work while not being too severe. I do worry about it getting worse and it's now at the point where I can work but it means I'm too exhausted to do anything other than collapse in the evenings and rest over weekends. I can't say I'm enjoying life like this and worry it will only get worse.

Hi, Welcome Flanny
Let us know how your gym goes,
I'm not very good with physio, I need a bit more motivation than just being told do this or do that and then sent home and left to my own devices I'm fairly new as well. I have osteoarthritis, kyphoscoliosis, spinal stenosis and I'm permanently on 2 crutches.
I refuse to let it control me......I will control it

I had two knee surgeries, one in college and a second shortly after college. Both were to repair torn ligaments and meniscus. As a result, I had early onset of OA in my knee. An offloading knee brace really worked well for me, reducing my pain and helping me to continue to participate in daily activities. For some people, wearing a brace to stay active can minimize the potential for weight gain and other health issues.

I suffer from osteoarthritis in my arms, elbows, hands, spine, shoulders and neck. I use a walking stick to get around which is not helped by claudication in my legs which is a horrible disabling condition. Many people think I am putting it on as my ailments are not necessarily visible which really upsets me, anybody have this problem

Sometimes we have to live with the cards we are dealt with, but the support, love and care should be there. Before we move on if we are talking equality... We are all in the same boat after all as a veteran feeling an outsider..

@Ninja53 Dont think that you SUFFER from arthritis...try to change your thinking. You live with it, you have it but not SUFFER from it.
I'm not talking as someone who hasn't got OA. I have it in my lower back, ankle, hips, 2 hip replacements one which didnt work and I am now on 2 crutches. The only advantage of that is my illness is visible now....I do know what you mean about having an invisible illness. I had a Blue Badge, my illness was invisible but I couldnt walk very far.....it is annoying when people look at you as if there is nothing wrong with you
So yes I have the same problem or did have until I had to use 2 crutches but that is permanent now. I would rather be back to the stage where it was invisible and I didnt have to use crutches and jut one stick
Love

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

Hi everyone,
I'm a newly signed up member to Carenity .. I'm 67, years young; but unfortunately, like so many of you; I also suffer with Osteo Arthritis. I hope to learn from the group; also have some input, while discovering (hopefully) a way forward to increased mobility? Help!
Before this debilitating illness took hold; I enjoyed an active athletic lifestyle; although these day's; I'm more of an invalid than athlete. I'm not giving in to this condition; and intend fighting against it as long as possible.
Glad to have found this group; and hope to take an active roll in some of your discussions.
Acceptance appreciated
