@nineteen_gale ... Thank you for all your advice and also for the warm welcome.
I will definitely discuss all with the GP when I next visit. I have just re-located from South Africa so am trying to get used to a different weather pattern, change of routine, different medications and brand names etc. obviously that weren't available there, and so much more.
Doctors here have been very helpful and the health system is so much better than what we had.
Will keep you posted.

Hi Les
You are most welcome. I bombarded you with a lot of information. But you can take your time and digest it all. When you go to see your GP make notes of all that you want to ask him/her so you don't miss out on anything. If you do start on Turmeric, please don't lose heart if you don't notice much difference. It takes 4 weeks or so for the Turmeric to get into your system before you can start noticing any difference. Have you been on the Turmeric For Health website yet? It is an excellent eye opener. I was told in Aug. 2015 that my knee was bone on bone, and that I needed to have a Total Knee Replacement. That's when I started taking Turmeric supplements as well as Turmeric milk. Nearly 2 years on, I am happy to say that I am managing very well with my own knee without too much pain. Of course I go to the gym and do Treadmill, Cross trainer, Static bike and moving stairs once a week. I also swim twice a week and it certainly helps a lot. With Arthritis, you have to keep moving, if you don't use it, you lose it. So exercises are very important part, not just for Arthritis, but for general health too.
So keep moving my friend and do read up all the info about Turmeric
Yes please, do keep me posted.
Christina

Thank you for all useful information.
Will discuss further with the doctor and come back with anything constructive... I am very sensitive also and have many allergies... Turmeric could cause one but it's worth a try!

Hi Ninja53, I too have OA in my knees and hips worse, ankles, neck and hands not so bad. My partner thinks I'm putting it on too at times as he told me once that arthritis is a load of b******s and that things like fibromyalgia, which quite a few friends and family has is all in the mind!
I won't let it beat me either. I go to the gym on Wednesday mornings, and do 2 body conditioning classes on Mondays and Fridays. I also try to keep my garden a bit tidy and grow my own veg, but once you stop, boy is it painful!
My doctors said that it is all wear and tear and as I try not to take painkillers, the ony thing I can do is grin and bear it! I have kinesiology tape on my knees which does help a little bit and green mussel gel which helps for a bit too.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

Hi everyone,
I'm a newly signed up member to Carenity .. I'm 67, years young; but unfortunately, like so many of you; I also suffer with Osteo Arthritis. I hope to learn from the group; also have some input, while discovering (hopefully) a way forward to increased mobility? Help!
Before this debilitating illness took hold; I enjoyed an active athletic lifestyle; although these day's; I'm more of an invalid than athlete. I'm not giving in to this condition; and intend fighting against it as long as possible.
Glad to have found this group; and hope to take an active roll in some of your discussions.
Acceptance appreciated
