The clinic is in London Harley Street. Quite expensive it's a injection and it last between 6 to 9 months. I'm waiting for an appointment at the hospital. Just to find out if my back is due to my knee and how I walk. I will then I think try the injections.

Hi Barbara 1946, I've had pain block injections which have to be done under X-ray on my back several times, but they didn't help at all, I wondered if these were the same type of injection, or is there another type? Really desperate as pain is unbearable and debilitating. Thanks for your help x

Hi,
I have osteoarthritis in my back and neck also degenerative disc's. I have tried a lot of different Meds. I am now on a drug called Pylexia SR. Each tablet lasts for 12 hrs and so far it at least helps me function more.

I've had arthritis for many years, as well as fibromyalgia and depression. For a long time I believed the arthritis was rheumatoid (being told, "there are over 100 types of arthritis and yours is in the rheumatoid category), but as it turns out it is osteoarthritis. It doesn't make things any better but what can you do? I have problems with accepting the severe restrictions in my daily activities. I used to be highly active, organised and efficient, now, getting out of bed is a major challenge. I have thoughts of suicide on an almost daily basis because I can't do as I could. I know as we get older, we can't do as we used to, but this is nothing to do with age; sounding a bit conceited, I am 55 and have lived with this progressively restricting disease for many years and although I am in a severely depressed state, I have a wonderful husband, a fabulous son and amazing family and friends. I know there are people worse off than me and maybe it is selfish, but I would love to have one day without pain, sorry!

Thank you barbara 1946, my walking is also terrible, I have hosp appt 17th Jan with another pain consultant and hoping they can help. Btw because of back and leg pain I'm getting very bent over, despite mentioning this to rheumotology consultant they just didnt comment. As Auntpol says I'd love to have one day or few hours with less pain, I'm severely depressed too xx

I agree with both of you it would be nice to have a few days without pain .please keep in touch and let me know what the pain consultant tells you .i will keep you posted at what the hospital tells me when I get an appointment . I also have days when I feel so sorry for myself and can cry .i think is this my life now two years ago I was walking ,shopping and doing all the house work with not a care in the world . My family tell me not to give up and to be positive and that's what I try and do .I make myself go out even though I have to keep stopping for a sit down . Hopefully things will get better .

Hi, I'm new here and I have osteoarthritis in my knee and ankle. I'm finding it hard to sleep at night as there is no way that I can turn on my knee that is comfortable and any movement is excruciating. The pain is so bad even just touching the area is painful and sometimes it feels as if I'm getting electric shocks as well. I have been recommended to take 2 paracetamol 500gm 4 times a day and it isn't helping much. Also to have physiotherapy for which I have to wait for an appointment. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

Hi everyone,
I'm a newly signed up member to Carenity .. I'm 67, years young; but unfortunately, like so many of you; I also suffer with Osteo Arthritis. I hope to learn from the group; also have some input, while discovering (hopefully) a way forward to increased mobility? Help!
Before this debilitating illness took hold; I enjoyed an active athletic lifestyle; although these day's; I'm more of an invalid than athlete. I'm not giving in to this condition; and intend fighting against it as long as possible.
Glad to have found this group; and hope to take an active roll in some of your discussions.
Acceptance appreciated
