Hi Moonstone
Thanks for letting me know how you are getting on. I am so fed up with the painkiller side effects that I know it makes sense to have the operation done. I hope you are soon painfree.

Hi. @Moonstone,
sorry to hear you're having probs with the side effects of pain killers. I also have this problem ie constipation after taking co codamol. Requiring laxatives which play havoc with the intestines! Lol!!!
keep your chin up.
take care
Tricia x

Well i have now been given a date for my operation..it's to be on the 15th.feb so not long now to wait...i have been told that i will be in hospital for 3 nights or maybe two if i am ok..i will miss my cats as they are all rescues and some will only respond to me (much to my husbands dismay lol) but looking forward to getting my life back and getting some sleep which has been awful lately..i am lucky to get 2 hours a night which is not helping with my anxiety..i go next week to have tests and a chat with the consultant who is really nice..i will let you all know how a get on after that.

Hi
I posted about my other {un-operated] leg being very sore. This leg went very quickly. I had an X Ray and it was fine then when I went to see my consultant and told him I was in agony he sent me for another X Ray and there it was bone on bone. He couldn't believe that there was such a change in such a short time, Anyway I thought maybe this other leg was going the same way and would need an X Ray. I saw a horrible GP {not mine}.
A few days ago I got a telephone call from my GP saying come and make an appointment with me? That is not like our surgery at all. If you don't ring them its rarely they get in touch with you
The appointment in on Wed afternoon, still don't actually know why she wants to see me? I'm on the committee PPG, {Patient Participation Group} in our surgery and we have a meeting tomorrow evening and she chairs it. I will be so curious and want to ask her about it but its not the sort of thing we talk about. Oh well I'll find out on Wed afternoon
Love

Well tomorrow is the big day! Iwill be going into hospital at 7 in the morning..i am shaking with nerves but they do know that i suffer from anxiety so perhaps i will not have to wait to long before they do the op (have been told that it could be any time up until 4.30 pm) have my bag packed and have made arrangements for my pets to be cared for so now i am ready.
I will only be in for 2 days maybe even less if i do well after the op so i will let you know how i was for me..thank you all for your replies/help as it has made me feel calmer.
I attended the joint clinic last week ,where i had everything explained which has made me feel better...will just be glad when tomorrow is here i can can get this over with.

Hi there
I wish you good luck for tomorrow. Waiting is over. try and stay calm and be positive. You can do anything you if you make up your mind and be positive. All will be well. Follow the advice by the medics and the staff. If you are in pain, do not shy away from informing them that you are in pain rather than suffer in silence so as not to give troule.
God be with you.
Let me know how you got on when you are able to use the computer again.

The hospital called me at 5pm yesterday and cancelled!!! Apparently the ward manager wanted the beds kept for A & E so that's alright then..never mind that i have been building myself up for this since november..i have been in tears all last night and now today..i really cannot put myself through this agin so i have told them to remove my name from their list..i will have to manage with the pain as it seems that no one cares ..feeling very let down and depressed as it would have been done by now and i would be recovering.
I had my bag packed and my husband had arranged to take time from work to care for me,all for nothing..thanks nhs.
I put off my cat having an operation which she needs to have this done so now i will concentrate on her and try to get her better.
I was told yesterday that the next available appointment will be march 22nd.so another 6 weeks time but i am not going to have surgery now.

@ Monstone
I'm so sorry. It must be awful to have been waiting for the op for so long and then it cancelled. In a way I understand how you feel. I had a test which was cancelled 3 different times. That's not nearly as bad.
I know everything was prepared, bag, husband, cat etc but is it really worth going through all that pain again just to cancel it. I would be crying as well and feel the same but I think you will regret it if you don't have it done. Have a think about it please.
Love
Eileen
