Hi aglowlady,
Thanks for your helpful comments, it's true that everyone's outcome is different. Suppose the 'gamble' goes out of it when you can't walk at all.
Keep in touch.

@Hileena
hi , I hope you are recovering well from both of your replacements .
I had my TKR on 2/5. The pain was swings from agony to just downright painful ! Lol !!! I think the pre and post op exercises are paying off though, as I soon graduated to mobilising with 2 sticks.
looking forward to hearing from you .
Best Wishes
Tricia xx

So I have had a bit of a setback with my recovery as on my last physio session which went well and they said that i didn't need go any more then told me to use the exercise bike..i gave it my best shot but it was on a high setting and i really struggled to use it..i could feel my knee hurting but tried to carry on until the pain got so bad i had to stop..so ever since then i have been having chronic pain at night which is stopping me from sleeping the only thing that helps is to get up and walk around for a while ..yesterday i went to visit my sister in Norfolk (i journey of about 2 hours) and i had not slept at all the night before..so it spoiled the day as i was so tired and resembled a corpse..sister was concerned about me as I looked so awful but tried to enjoy the day.
I saw my consultant on Thursday at the 6 week check up and he wants to see me again in 2 months time as he. Couldn't explain why i was having so much pain at night but i wonder if i have strained a muscle using the bike?
Has anyone else experienced this?would appreciate any help .

Hi Moonstone
Did you over do your static bike? Was the bike in the gym, physio dept or your own in the house. Who set the setting on the bike? gentle paddling is okay. If you were using it on the high setting when biking the first time, could be the reason for your pain. Can you get to the swimming pool at all? It will be very good to do some gentle exercises in the water as its weigtless in water and you dont feel the pain so much. You dont have to be able to swim. Just at the shallow end, hold on to the wall and bend your knee as high as you can manage, and hold it to the count of 5 to begin with, and gently lower your leg to the floor. Do a few repitations to begin with and gradually increase the number of repitations. You can also try to lie on your back and do some straight leg raises. Hope you get on okay.
Good Luck

Yes the bike was in the gym and the setting was already set after being used by one of the men ...i didn't see. Anyone altering the setting and didn't know how to i have an exercise bike at home but had been told by the physio not to use it yet....i had. Just started to get the night pain under control and was feeling so much better then this happened.
I am doing knee exercises given to me by the physio.
I am feeeling better today and do not have so much pain so I am hoping that I am over the worse..shame it had to happen as i was. Getting on well with walking and doing the exercises anyway hopefully I am on the mend now.
I am trying to find salt water swimming pool in my area as I am allergic to chlorine so can't use a normal pool but do love swimming..if not i will have to risk a trip to the coast and swim in the sea. If i can brave the cold.
