Our stories are all so similar. I was diagnosed 18 months ago with OA of the spine and hips and now have torn muscles/tendons in the right shoulder. Am waiting for the rotator cuff operation. I take Chondroitin/Msm/glucosamine sulphate daily with paracetamol and ibuprofen as needed....which is very often. I can't see an end to the pain :-(

To Caz321, don't give up! I kept going on appeals and though it took 18 months in all was worth it! You get the chance to explain properly at tribunal instead of tick boxes. The Benefits an Work website also helps with loads of information and tips. Test tribunal papers etc...

I want to hear from anybody that has had knee replacement? Want to know if its worth it as the people I see around who have had this op still walk very stiffly and some with walking sticks. Is it worth it?

Hi update for me , i am looking at the third op on my left TKR , have just got to ring to go on the list , have been given a 70% better odds , which is better than the 30% for the last one . Anybody looking at having a TKR go with it i still class myself as a very unlucky one , i know most that have had one have had really good results . Its never going to be like your own knee as its false but will hopefully ease your pain and make life better x

Dboyl1 - If you taking ibuprofen at that level you need the gastric buffer to protect your stomach I am prescribed both.

Hi. I'm new here. I can't believe all the posts!!!
I suffer greatly with OA in many joints. I also have the dreaded fibromyalgia.
Recent years I was dx with acromegaly. I had a tumour on my pituitary gland. This secreted too much growth hormone GH1. My ligaments and soft tissue and some bone just kept growing. As a result I have Hyper Mobility Syndrome. (HMS)
I had the tumour removed. This jolt to my system flared up the fibro and enhanced the OA. I have also an under active thyroid as a consequence.
I underwent surgery twice in three months to replace both my hips.
I was fairly active.. I suppose that's why they replaced both hips when I was only 46. I have a horse and my dearest wish was to ride without pain. I can ride but the pain is still there in my right hip.
My knees are terrible! I am having knee braces put on tomorrow.
I am also having some shoes made because my feet are deteriorating rapidly. My ankle is out of alignment which means it constantly feels broken!
I am on alot of meds and AD's. It's all checked with the pharmacy. I do feel tired and often a sleep mid afternoon helps me get thru the rest of the day.
Gentle hugs to all
Xx jo

Hi all have OA many years from lower spine and now knee ankle hips us back.. Bit of a wreck with few other conditions. Was given wheel chair about 2003 don't use it. Walk with rotator or 2 sticks. On fentanyl skin pain patches past 8 yrs best thing I ever did as prior these i had massive spasm n felt deeper pains. Also have pethidine for breakthrough pain. Quality of life bad now in bed mostly last few years as ME and Fibro and chronic fatigue diagnosed.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
