Hi I was on Celebrex for joint pain and I found it very effective. I only had to take it for a week then I would drop it off, then my doctor stopped prescribing it as it was thought to cause heart problems. I try to manage with my Tens machine and occasional co codamol. I don't think there is a " one size fits all" so have to see what works for us.

I have problem in my thoracic spine, two discs have lost fluid and have inflammation around them, causing lots of pain on lying done. I have started using Cherry juice from Amazon and have found this to help me taking away a lot of the stiffness and helping to manage the pain. Try it see if it helps you.

This is very depressing reading as I have osteo arthritis and because of uncontrolled hypertension surgery keeps getting postponed. In the meantime I use Tramadol sparingly and thankfully living alone no hears me scream in pain.
Just to put a cherry on the cake I recently developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist and my right hand is the one I need For my cane.
Sometimes you just need to laugh, scream and cry at the same time. Keep going

I ave Osteoarthritis in my left knee..I was diagnosed in September but was told by the consultant that I was not yet ready for knee replacement surgery! Although I will eventually need this..he told me to go back to see him when the pain is so bad that it is unbearable and he will operate...the only advise he gave me was to take Paracetamol for the pain..I tried this but it didn't to any good..now I am using Flexiseq gel twice a day which has helped with the arthritis pain and also Voltorol gel which can be used 4 times a day..if the pain gets really bad I take Ibufrofen..I am thinking of going to a sports injury clinic to see if they can help me..has anyone else tried this and did it work?

I want to share with you that, after several years of living with the pain of arthritis, I took matters into my own hands. I'm nearly 63 and I was taking Pregabalin daily, had morphine patches and took oral morphine for the pain, and knew I couldn't continue with this regime as it was killing me. I stopped eating anything with GLUTEN in it, no bread, cake, biscuits, sauces - everything, I also stopped all DAIRY produce, including goat's cheese, and all CITRUS fruits, except lemons, and cut all SUGARS out, except for half a spoonful in my tea (well, when there are no more treats like cake and biscuits, a girl has to have some fun!)
Every night and morning, I squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a glass, add in a teaspoonful of gluten-free bicarbonate of soda, add water till the glass is half full, stir and drink it down, this reduces acid in the body, a major cause if arthritis-causing inflammation.
I go once a month for deep tissue remedial massage, I used to go twice a month, but am feeling so good now, I have cut it to once.
These small changes have seen me come off ALL my medication, I can walk easily without a cane, garden, take my dogs for long rambles over the hills, swim etc etc. I am completely pain free, but if I overdo the exercise and feel a bit sore, a rub with Tiger Balm makes everything fine in double quick time.
I never wanted to be drug dependant and this is a great way of ensuring that I am no longer that person.
I really hope that this will help someone to feel as good as I do!

Hi, I was very interested to read in nearly all of the posts that people are suffering from fybromyalgia. I was diagnosed with o/a in 2000 in my rt knee and L5 - S1. It now affects my other knee and my hands to a lesser degree and I have muscle pain in my upper arms. So I'm wandering if I also have fybromyalgia. It seemingly occurs along with o/a. I can't find any info linking both conditions but it can't be just coincidental.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
