Hi All,
I was sent to the pain clinic in December last year after trying all sorts of medication for my osteoarthritis and after a through examination I was asked if i would like to try a tablet that has not been out very long. I said that I would try anything so now after 4 months of using it has helped me a lot. Its name is Pylexia SR or its other name is Tapentadol. It keeps the pain away for a lot longer than other meds that I have had.

Hi I have severe oesteoarthritis due to a motorbike accident in 1978 and I now have an ankle fusion which has gone wrong. I walk with a stick and because the ankle is fused I now have mid foot arthritis too. I find taking the aloe vera drinking gel from Forever Living every day along with my medication really helps. The bee pollen tablets are great too for energy.
I also find swimming a great relief and go to St Mellion in Cornwall because they have a steam room and jacuzzi too.

Hi jamesantro - It is certainly possible that the numbness in your feet is connected with your spinal problems but on the other hand, may be due to something else. I can only suggest you report this to your GP as soon as possible as I feel it is always so important to investigate as soon as possible ANY changes in anyones' current medical condition. I've had OA in my hands, neck and lower spine for many years now (OA "runs in the family") but also have MS and decreased disc spaces between L5-S2. When people have a number of different medical conditions, it is often difficult to identify which one is actually causing the different problem(s) but hoping you will soon be able to undergo investigations to effectively treat this. In this current economic climate, unfortunately feel everyone needs to be as proactive as possible and as self-empowered as possible in order to effectively manage, maintain etc. their health. Not sure if the above will help you any but always "here for you". Ann x

I have osteoarthritis in my hands, right wrist, spine, right hip, left knee and right ankle. Eventually I will have a hip replacement and knee replacements as I'm considered too young at 53 to have them done.
I take naproxen, tramadol, gabapentin and amitriptyline which works better helping me sleep than pain relief. Due to the combination of meds I have for high blood pressure, cholsterol and depression as well as pain relief I can't take ibrupofen.

Hi i have just joined this site i am 55 years old and have had osteoathritis for over 15 yrs first started in my lower spine now i have it in tae rest of my spine my left knee and both hands i used to take naproxen but can no longer take it as i have hiatus hernia and suffer realy bad acid reflux, i take omeprazole and zapain i worry about long term affects of the zapain. I excercise as much as i can which helps with the stiffness aquaerobics an a little strength training in the gym i don't find this easy but am trying to stick with it as if i don't do any excercise i feel worse. I am on the waiting list to go to the pain clinic but don't know what they will suggest has anyone else been to a pain clinic? did it help?

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
