Hi Dappy571
Welcome to the discussion. Not sure on this one myself, but Daren is very good on meds, so he may know next time he checks in. Good luck.

I have osteoarthritis, neck and lower spine discs 4 and 5 and the pain relief i use if its very bad is 2 tramadols but try paracetamol as all other coedeine and asprin products affect my stomach, i take omeprazole 20mg daily.I also have a lavender wheat bag i warm up for 1 minute in the microwave and put this on my neck and back for pain relief, they work well, these can be bought at chemists and worth getting.I have previously used accapuncture which was at gp's free in another area but not free in surrey.
I find swimming a tremendous help with keeping supple and on the move as too much sitting is not good and have to keep moving, walking or sitting and standing intermittantly. I also bought an ortho mattress which has helped to a degree but soft sponge sofas are not good and sit in a recliner chair and dont use it as a recliner, hope this helps anyone with same probs.

@Dappy571 , I am sorry I can't tell you whether boswellia would interact with Metformin and insulin ... I would very much doubt it , but please check with your GP first ... I don't know a great deal about herbs or homoeopathic medicine .... Metformin and insulin have an effect upon each other known as by pharmacodynamic synergism ... this just means that each amplifies the strength of the other , but I am sure your doctor would be well aware of this and adjust the dosage accordingly . Best wishes :-)

I used to swim to help my spine, but the chlorine in the water affects my psoriasis - plus wearing a swimming costume means all my scars and worst psoriasis patches are on show to one and all - I do get a little self conscious about that.

Suncatcher2015 I don't know where your patches and scars are but my costume is normal top but has cycling short type bottom (all in one) I hate the chlorine too. Could use the pool being a bit warmer too

Hi @Dappy571 I don't know much about taking boswellia as a supplement but I do use a mix of frankincense oil(boswellia) along with peppermint & geranium which doesn't seem to have no contraindications with my meds.
Frankincense is a good anti inflammatory plus a good mood balancer(especially if you are grieving )
Peppermint or black pepper oil are good for pain relief but are contraindicated if you have high blood pressure.
And geranium or rose oil (if you can afford the proper stuff!!) mostly because I love the smell & they are great hormone & mood balancers :-)
All ways check with your GP though before trying any oils

I wonder how quickly spinal curvature increases? I have Lordosis, which is curvature of the lower spine, Scoliosis, which is when it bends out sideways and Kyphosis which is the thoracic spine curving to much making a sort of hunch.
Just lately, the upper spine seems to be bending me forward more and more, but not sure if this is the Kyphosis, or me not straightening up because of he pain. Hmm, anyone suffer similarly?

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
