Well it's now been 4 long months since my knee replacement and i am doing really well...walking normally (no limping) and managing the stairs without too much pain and stiffness..i can get into (and out of) my car without any pain which is a huge relief and am now thinking about trying a jog? Also want to start horse riding again as have not been able to while i had arthritis..so have a lot to look forward too.

hi ,
Good to hear you've made a good recovery. It's great that you are able to pick up on activities again.
It's three months since my TKR and I too have made a good recovery. My lft knee is locking so I might have to go through it again.
The other big change in my life is the passing of my hubby. So I'm really pleased to be fully fit again, to cope with this.

Hi all. New to this group, didn't realise it was here until now. Last October (2016) i had my right hip replaced at a local hospital. Operation was a complete success and have full mobility now.
However if you are considering or going to have the operation I have to warn you the first recovery month is horrendous. The does and don'ts are incredible, once over that you will see a difference all most every day. Would highly recommend the operation as it will give you a complete new lease of freedom....freedom from pain and the ability to walk without any aids.
Take care all
Iain

Aglowlady. HiTrish. Just to let you know I am awaiting corrective procedures as consultant thinks scar tissue has built up alongside my knee. So hopefully I will get sorted , eventually. Jenny. X

hi Jenny,
Oh dear! I'm so sorry you have to have another op. Hope it gives you some relief.
My left knee is locking so I've had it xrayed. The surgery phoned me at 8am to tell me I had O/A. Yes I know this! What I want to know is how bad it is!! They've offered steroid injections so I suppose I'll have to go down this road first. Only hoping it doesn't get as bad as the other knee.
let me know how you get on. Love Tricia x

Welcome Sutherland and YES the first few months after surgery are horrendous! I was in so much pain that i considered having my leg amputated..it's a shame that you are not warned about this before you have the op but it does get better...now 4 months later i am making improvements every day..i set myself little *goals* to achieve each week (this week it was to get downstairs without too much pain) i can now look back and feel that having this knee op was a good idea as i kept saying that i wished i never had surgery..so if you are in pain now it will pass and you will get better and be pain free soon!

Has anyone else had this happen? I was out walking on Friday and obviously it was very cold and my knee replacement froze! It was a really strange sensation feeling it freeze.
Once home i warmed it up by rubbing it with my warm hands until the feeling come back into it but it ached for the next few days.
I am thinking of wearing a bandage or something similar if it is that cold again as i was not keen on having that happen and would appreciate any feedback on what is best to do.

Hi @ aglowlady and anyone else who answered my post about a shoulder replacement. Its now been almost 8 months since I had it done. Consultant said it would take a year. Its still very sore. The other thing is I have spinal stenosis so my mobility is dreadful.
I haven't been on line much so apologies for not replying.
I'm beginning to wonder when this shoulder will heal. I cant even drive because I cant feed the steering wheel through my hands so cant walk very well and cant drive LOL
Anyway 2018 cant be any worse can it?? I had 3 major operations within a year.
I hope you all have a happy and pain free Christmas
Hope to hear you next year
Love
