Surely , the sweating effect , as a side effect by ssri s , is more than enough to compensate for appetite ?

Hi Everyone, Just thought I would add to this. I take a bit of a cocktail, I'm on Sertraline 200mg, Mirtazapine 45mg and Quetiapine 100mg daily. A few months ago I joined weight watchers. Now I'm not saying its for everyone, but I have lost almost 2 stone now. So for me Mirtazapine is a godsend at night to help me sleep and also as anti depressant. Quetiapine has also worked wonders for me as a mood stabilizer, due to bipolar. It is possible to take these drugs without all the excessive eating which therefore leads to weight gain and that again adds to depression. Hope this helps.
Take Care

Evaluator
Hi everyone,
Don't hesitate to add the medication you take to your Carenity account. You can do it via our medications unit here: https://member.carenity.co.uk/medicaments
You can then rate and evaluate your treatment so that other members could learn more about it. You can also compare your ratings to those of other patients.
The more members evaluate their treatment, the more useful our medications unit will become!
Thank you in advance for your contribution!

I found that melatonin works very well. It is a natural, non-addictive hormone. Ask in your pharmacy or doctor about it, it works very well for sleeping for me. My sleeping was terrible but this really helped me.
i hope everyone is doing okay.

I've had insomnia for 10 years. I tried to deal with it myself, but nothing touched it. I ended up on Mirtazapene, Ambien & Melatonin which I rotate through to try to avoid tolerance. That's helped, but the insomnia is gradually getting worse.
I am CONSTANTLY pushed in the direction of CBT-I despite it clearly not being suitable. I've non of the indicators & yet whenever I seek help that's what I get. When I sit there telling them how wrong they are I get accused of arguing & not wanting help. I'm not the one arguing, I'm just trying to tell them about my insomnia, they're the ones telling me that I'm somehow wrong.
I saw another specialist 3 months ago & approx 5 mins after sitting down I was being told how I was going to be treated with CBT-I. When I again made it clear that there were no "mal adaptive thoughts or behaviours" she became annoyed & said "you're not ready to be helped yet" I wanted to scream but I kept my cool & set out my objections backed up with facts & told her that I'd never be ready for treatment that was so fundamentally flawed from start to finish. I got the "that's your choice" crap & that's when I got annoyed & told her that her choices were her responsibility, not mine.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia is called CBT-I. As far as I'm concerned it also means Complete Bullshit Therapy. Even IF it's as good as people claim the tests show a 25-40% failure rate, yet everyone I've seen is unable to comprehend that I might be a part of the Sub Optimal Group. And that's a HUGE "IF" because the research papers published seem to take patients from sample pools that are already filled with likely candidates. My guess is that amongst the whole population of insomniacs the success rate is very much lower.

@Knoydart I have never tried CBT for my insomnia but it has also never been recommended to me, I have just read about it online.
What started your insomnia? I have had mine my whole life, it really annoys me when people are like, "Oh, just drink some camomile tea" "just do exercise" etc etc...I have tried everything and only medication works...

Hi..
I'm currently on 30mg of Mitrazepine - mainly for very bad insomnia. I starve myself all day every day and am still putting on weight. Can't stand to look at myself in the mirror. Had the same happen in the past with amitriptyline ( but at least that one made me fat and happy, and not fat and miserable to hell - which is what's happening with Mitrazapine). Tried Trazodone some years back and had a horrific reaction to it - sick to my stomach to the point of not being able to eat at all, horrific nightmares, brain 'zaps' etc...
Does anyone have any suggestions for an antidepressant that'll help with very severe insomnia without the side effect of weight gain? Neither sleeping pills nor benzos work anymore - been there, done that, for over 10 years - nothing works long term..
Thanks everyone. Also sorry that I'm not helping anyone on here, just posting my self-indulgent c**p without giving anything back..
