Hi paulaD. Have you tried a squish ball or hand grip exercisers? They are good for using whilst in the bath or swimming. You cam get them from sports direct very cheaply under £10 are very effective. Take care

Hi ukdreamer55
You seem to be on awful lot of strong medication for your Osteoarthritis. Are you sure you want to be taking all those in combination? Morphine and Tramadol are both Opiates, Amitriptyline may make you drowsy and dopy Pregablin is good for nerve pain but over a period of time you do gain weight, and regular Paracetamol does cause substantial Liver Damage. I wonder if you have tried any natural remedies such as Ginger, Pinapple, Turmerick and Black Pepper combination. You can also try the supplements Glucosamine sulphate with Chondroitin and MSM. You of course need to check with your GP before you take any of the above in order to check if they interact with any medication that you may be on. Also warming your hands in hot water before doing some hand and finger exercises would help, but you need to keep up with them and persevere despite the pain. It may take a while to obtain relief at first, but with perseverance it may help.
Wish you all the luck.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and would like to know if anyone has found homeopathic remedies like, turmeric, omega oil or anything else that will help with the awful pain I have in my right hand? Any feed back would be very helpful
to me as I'm doing as much research to decide which one to try. I don't want to bombard my body but would like to try something that seems to help the greater number of folks with this debilitating disease. Many thanks Roz

Hi, I've just been told my left knee is bone on bone both sides. I'm 44 and quite active. But my surgeon has said I'll have to wait till at least 55 before I can have a knee replacement . My dependence on co-codamol is increasing also I take 200mg of Celebrex . im worried about taking anti-inflammatories for years and was wondering if any of you has been under 50 and granted a knee replacement?

For arthritis there's not one sole solution. Me personally I use turmeric, rosehip tablets, glucosamine and marine collagen. I do yoga everyday, do 1 or 2 cycle workouts a week and strength training and swimming ( when I can be bothered solely because I hate it). I have sports therapy every few weeks which is a soft tissue massage. All of these are keeping my hip arthritis in check. There is solutions out there. Don't get me wrong I have my bad days mainly when it's time of the month or if I've over done things. which is when I go on my painkillers naproxen. Hope this helps anyone.

Hi Laurendehorizon
You say that you have Scoliosis and are in awful lot of pain. I can sympathise with you there. I developed Scoliosis after my 3rd Spinal surgery for slipped discs. I was bent forward to my middle and twisted to my right and suffered tremendous amount of pain for a year. After a few MRI scans I had another surgery for Scoliosis, which corrected my twisted to the right position, but did not stand me upright as the Titanium Rods were not long enough to stand me up right, and did not relieve any pain. I had to have 5th Spinal surgery for correction of Scoliosis. I now have 2 longer Titanium rods from T9 down, and are joined to my sacrum with 2 large bolts. This surgery has allowed me to stand up straighter than before. but not 100%. The bend is from my hips rather than the back and that is because I was not offered surgery for a year since I was diagnosed as Scoliosis. During that time, I had no physiotherapy and was in too much pain to do any exercises. With the result, my core muscles responsible for standing me up totally died. Hence the reason I am now bent from my hips and have to use crutches permanently to walk when I am out. In the house I can walk unaided, but for walking any distance outside, I have to use my crutches permanently. I am so much more better off having had the surgery than before. I only take 1 50mg capsule of Tramadol for pain with my breakfast. I also take Golden Paste of Turmeric with Black pepper, added to it some Ginger and Cinnamon which does help relieve the pain. In addition, I also take supplements of Glucosamine sulphate, MSM, Cod Liver Oil and Omega 3. I do floor exercises taught by the physiotherapist and exercises in the pool as taught by the Hydro therapist. Life is much more tolerable now than ever before. I wonder if there is an option for you to have the surgery. Are you under Neurosurgeon or Spinal Surgeon? Before you try any supplements or natural therapy, it is advisable for you to check with your GP to ensure that they do not interact with any medication that you are on.
I hope this help. Wish you good luck

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
