I think I misunderstood. I thought you were on Codeine already. Asking for 4 30 mg Codeine pills a day isn't asking for the world. You will have to try that before Tramadol.

Hi Zena
Read the Discussions on Turmeric. You will find a lot of information on Turmeric and Osteoarthritis. Read comments of Nytson. There is a website for Turmeric in that comment. If you look up the website you will get all the information you require. There is a recipe for Golden Paste. Its easy to make and very effective natural remedy without any side effects. You have nothing to lose and every thing to gain. Why not give it a try. You might get the pain relief, which the drugs you are on, does not provide. Go on, give it a try.

I think "You have nothing to lose and every thing to gain." is overstating things. The active ingredient in Turmeric is probably Curcumin and this has at least 3 possible interactions relevant to people here.
Stomach acid medications can be affected raising stomach acid levels, both Cimetidine and Lansoprazole groups are affected.
Turmeric may increase the effects of blood thinning drugs like Warfarin
In diabetes Turmeric may lower blood sugar levels. When combined with medications for diabetes, turmeric could cause hypoglycemia.
People assume that because something is natural it is harmless. Rattlesnake venom is natural but it isn't harmless. Before swallowing Turmeric in quantity I would explore the interactions of curcumin thoroughly.

Hence the reason I mentioned to look up the website on Turmeric First, read all about it, as all the information is in the web site, including why it is not suitable for certain conditions or to be taken with caution etc. No one should indulge in Natural remedies if they have ay medical condition, without checking with their GP first. Hope this clarifies any confusion my comment may have caused you Steve W.

I take turmeric and black pepper together in tablet form every night along with glucosamine and rosehip. After time they do work.

Hi I have extreme pain in my hands and wrists. After xray doctor prescribed co-codamol which does not touch the pain at all. I have a problem with grip even picking up a tablet with my left hand. Driving me mad. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
