Hi I've been in more pain than usual so I've been put on a higher drug Solpadol. I went for my first xray today even though I have had problems with this knee for years. They used to tell me it was torn ligaments, I have began using the stick in doors this is the worst that its been.

Hi all,
Not able to take any anti-inflammatories tablets or gel as massive side effects to meds already taking!
Take Naproxen, Allopurinal and Omeprazole, along with Tramadol and Gabapentin up to 4 times a day - currently only try to take 3 x a day!
My daughter-in-law is a Forever Living agent, suggested ALOE MSM Gel, WOW fantastic :) Used on my hands, thumbs, wrists....Has really helped ease the pain in my hands and wrists but thumb's continue to be painful. Still 2 out of 3 isn't bad! Continue to take med's as found when didn't experience any symptoms or pain bang would rear its head again big time, then takes longer to get under control and more manageable.

I have Osteoarthritis Spondyulitis at the top of my spine cause by the removal of a tumor on my spinal core which I had removed at 39 luckily it was slow growing they did not remove it all because the root was entangled in my nervous system. They said it was neuro fibromtosis excuse the spelling. I take Naproxen Omeprezone Amytryptaline and pain killers and I still dont get any real pain relief I hurt when I am busy and I hurt when I am sat I hurt when I go to bed in my knees my hips and my neck and shoulders. I suffer from time to time with depression due to having to carry the pain around day after day. I am now 55 yrs old and winter has not helped I have had to refrain from work for a while to rest has I feel physically exhausted and I have done nothing but sleep whilst I have been off work cannot believe how long I have slept for

Hi everyone I am new on here. I have suffered from osteoarthritis for 12 years. I had a L. hip replacement in 2007 and it all went from there. I now have it in my lower back, knees and neck. I am at a crossroads now as my right knee needs to be replaced and I am terrified but I know I have to now. I have been having injections in my knee and back for a while and they don't work now. I am on paracetamol and Pregabalin but sometimes the pain is so bad I could scream. I can't take ibuprofen as I am a type 2 diabetic. If I could have the op. with an epidural I would but they don't do that here and I don't want any more general anaesthetic's. I had 4 in 3 months last year for something else and it was awful. Help any advice please?

Hi all,
I am on Gapapentin, Amatriptalene and I was also put on a newish drug called Pylexia SR. since taking this it has helped me a lot. It does not get rid of the pain but it makes it more manageable.

Hi Persephone
Where is "here" when you say they don't do epidurals here?
I don't know about TKR's but THR's I've had 2 and was given the choice of anaesthetic, epidural or spinal block
I chose the spinal block for both of them......that wouldn't work for a knee I suppose but is there nothing else they can do?

Hi I had a steroid injection 4 weeks ago, my osteo arthritis is in my dominant hand at the base of my thumb and every movement causes me great pain, I have tried anti inflammitories creams but because I have to use my hand for everything the pain gets worse, it's affecting my life big time, I'm only 53 and a very fit and active person and always have been, does anyone have any tips to make my pain easier, my GP just says its part of getting older which isn't what I want to hear!!

I have been diagnosed with mild to moderate arthritis in my hip joint but the pain is so bad, especially when I'm bending over or sitting down. At a clinic they said I had inflamed muscles and a trapped Nerve and the only treatment would be physiotherapy and/or injections of imflamitories. Feel like I'm being fobbed off somehow. The person who 'diagnposed' this to me, wasn't even qualified as far as I could tell. I'm really desperate to get this sorted as my job requires me to sit for six hours, after which, I'm nearly in tears with the pain. Any help would be appreciated

Hi. I'm new to here but hope to meet others who feel and suffer in the way I do.
I have osteoarthritis in my.knees, back, elbow!!!!!!! and worst of all in my wrists, hands and Finger joints. I struggle.walking, climbing stairs, carrying anything other than light stuff pñ
Other than my morning/evening medication ritual, can anyone offer advice on how to overcome the pain and trauma this illness causes
I try to keep upbeat but some days it's very hard.
Can anyone share any pain relieving advise on what may work?
Thanks in advance

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
