Walking my dog ,especially in the early days of my depression. It gave me time to think but not 'over think' ; along with helping myself and dog get fit. My walks started off relatively as short trips but as my moods started to lift then they became longer.
Taking time to notice the flowers instead of the weeds was a great learning experience.
If feeling low/stressed, a long walk in the park or by the near by river would energize me and lift my spirits.
Sitting in the garden on a sunny, warm day ;listening to the birds or just taking the time to appreciate the flowers, silence etc.
You can't beat sitting outside , relaxing whilst having your breakfast of just a cup of tea.
Lying down on my bed, listening to relaxation CD's. Completely emptying my mind and concentrating on my breathing.
I still concentrate on my breathing in times of stress/anxiety.
Nipping these feelings as soon as I can feel those emotions floating around me.
Having coping strategies and using them is essential.

I always find cooking whilst listening to music very relaxing, if a situation or someone has upset me baking bread can be very useful as the needing of the dough can release a lot of pent up frustration. If that does not work I find a walk helps, I love going for a walk on Beachy Head as it is always windy there and I find the wind helps blow some perspective back into my life.

I am with you on loving a windy day. I would have been able to open a bakery in my really bad days to release pent up frustration
Hope that you have had a gentle day MALLwork x

Thank you for your comments itgetsbetter, I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who likes windy days. I used to have a great excuse when the boys were young because they liked kite flying, will have to wait for grandchildren now x

Funnily enough it is windy outside today. You are so lucky living near the sea. I live in Cheshire so no bracing walks in the sea breeze for me
Have a great day MALLwork.xx

I take each day as it comes, try to have a focus for that day. Today is pretty good, but it gives me a nudge every now and again. H

Hi everyone,
In this discussion I invite you to talk about things, people that help you cope with your depression, cheer you up and make you smile.
Is it your cat or your favourite film? Maybe you have a favourite piece of music or food that always makes you happy?
Listing things that make you happy can help you and other members realize how much we can miss if we don't look around ourselves
Have a great day!
Margarita
