Hi Carlos and welcome to the group.
For me personally, I thought that I was coping on my own and despite family/friends telling me that I needed to see the GP as I was depressed [marriage break down after 30 yrs due to his adultery plus other family illnesses] . To me i felt that although I knew how low/bad I felt, I still refused to face that I was really struggling. What made me face up to facts was when I started thinking how easy it would be for me to walk out in front of a car; that was the turning point for me.
I was offered counselling but I did have a close net work of friends and so declined it. I had family but they were so worried about me that I didn't want worry them anymore.
Along with medication which although didn't make my illness go away but it did help to lighten my thoughts thus enabling me to think with a clearer mind. Talking really helped me. A penfriend whom I had never met would email me daily and she ended up being my saviour as I could email how I was really feeling. She never judged. It is easier writing down how you feel than face to face .
Taking a "Little by little, day by day" approach helped.
In times of anxiety , I would focus on my breathing which I still do today despite being well for the majority of the time. Recognizing the early signs before the full blown anxiety happens is vital.
I wish you well next week.

Suicidal thoughts, not coping, how to get treatment without carrying out my plans?

I take each day as it comes, try to have a focus for that day. Today is pretty good, but it gives me a nudge every now and again. H

Hi all am new to the site so hello. basically have suffered with low moods for quite a while now so finally went to see my gp a few weeks ago about it because it was putting a real strain on my relationships with family/friends/work etc where when in a low mood i would not want to be near or talk to anyone i just want to be left alone and try to pretend am in my own bubble.so anyway after seeing gp there sent me to a councillor who ran a test on me and she said am suffering with medium/high anxiety and low mood depression state so she as put me on a course which starts next week for me.but wanted to know how other people like me find the best way of dealing with things like this medication/council thanks and sorry for this been so long.
