I.e As we all have a point of view and this is my soldiers point of view (Veterans) far deeper than depression to deal with in everyday life, but also taking nothing away from depression. I feel all trauma especially from a young age leaves us the true mental health depression, As for me just depression and anxiety is nothing more than lifestyle and people who we are in contact with choices and they not mental health? Or is that just me?

When you're diagnosed with depression etc, your doctor should refer you to a mental health specialist (psychiatrist, therapist). It is their job to help you understand your condition and figure out where it all started, what may have been your trigger. But really all they can do is talk to you, it come to you to look back into your past to understand why your present is the way it is.

When you're diagnosed with depression etc, your doctor should refer you to a mental health specialist ? Depends if it is due to a car crash or death in the family or the like, then No this is not mental health. This is a normal reaction to what happened, but do find the system full of these symptoms and the one's that need it lose out. No offence..

I personally was referred to mental health specialist, not from any obvious situation like an acciedent or traumatic event. My reasons behind why I even went to see a doctor about this was because I couldn't mentally cope with what any 'normal' person could just get on with. Everyone in life technically goes through depression periods. People have different levels of capability. Some people can get through things on their own, others with friends and family support, but others need to have a little help from someone who has been through those things or is specialised in understanding and unravelling peoples problems.
No offence taken.

Lee Bee,
I too was given the label of depression and it has taken me 5 years and several installed episodes for my issues to come to light, what I mean is they only seen the label depression and ignores my other symptoms and kept telling me I was depressed and it was all in my head, my GP sacked the locum that told me that, when he seen the size of the tumour I had removed (No it wasn't in my head). then 3 years later I was still having the same presenting symptoms, and I have just been diagnosed as CFS/ME, IBS? and the Pain in my head and neck are migraines caused by disc degeneration to 3 disc in my neck and fused vertebrae. not in my head but pretty close, never stop looking if you have been diagnosed, with depression, not every symptom is a side effect of medication and not every symptom is a symptom of depression, I lost 5 years of my life, my Career and most of my friends.
if you repeatedly feel low and believe you GP is not taking you seriously ask to be refered, but any good Dr will offer you it pretty soon after a depression diagnosis. mainly because then they don't have to see you so often.
love light and peace x

I take each day as it comes, try to have a focus for that day. Today is pretty good, but it gives me a nudge every now and again. H

Living with depression for 22 years now and makes me no different from anyone else.. When someone says to a doctor they have depression, why is it they treat Depression first and never look at what is causing that depression?
