Hi Debbie, thank you for this post. I don't know it is but I always feel the effects of my depression weigh more heavily on me during this time of year. Supporting yourself and each other is so important xx

Hi Karen, yes your right support is everything. Sometimes people don't need advice all they want is someone to listen and to feel like they matter and cared for. I think there is far too much expectation this time of year Karen. We are all supposed to be happy and looking forward to the christmas parties. Truth is its not reality for a lot of us, so then its also the overwhelming guilt we are left with, as we are on the outside looking in to a very different world, the happy world ! I am so thankful for every day I wake up and I feel well right now. Anyway Karen, what have you got planned for Christmas and how are you feeling at the moment ?

A really good post. Good to know that there are people who really understand just how bad all the Christmas stuff can make you feel. I always appear to feel worse arund this time of the year, and I have often seriously wonder if I can really make it through another festive season.

I have nephew being born on boxing day. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't be experiencing this Christmas. I'm lost, lonely and out of love and hope and then I'll go to sleep

I feel the same. I feel like my life is falling apart. I am going on 25, living at home in a small town, very hard to find work in Ireland atm and I've only managed to get temporary work so keep bouncing from one place to the other as well as being unemployed. While I am unemployed, as I am under 25 atm, I don't qualify for social welfare. This means that paying for monthly medications, doctor's appointments etc. is a real stress and worry and I feel intensely guilty when my parents help me out. I am supposed to be doing psychotherapy sessions at the moment but cannot afford them and I have finally found a psychotherapist I am comfortable with. I feel like I have no hope right now. The only thing that was going right for me was my relationship of 6 months, but that ended last night. I am so lost right now and feel so guilty that I am so despondent and irritable all the time. I feel like a burden to those around me. xx

I take each day as it comes, try to have a focus for that day. Today is pretty good, but it gives me a nudge every now and again. H

Hi, Just a quick note really to remind, as if we need reminding !! This time of year is horrific for anyone going through depression, and we all know that suicide levels are at there highest. Please anyone that can, including myself, if you read on here or know anyone that is talking or having thoughts then please give them support in any way you can. That's all for now, pretty short but straight to the point.
Thanks for taking the time to read my message.
