The new mediation had to be strictly regulated and conform to a time table of monthly injections administered by a correctly trained nurse and was monitored by a national list which tended to suggest that this product had a feeling of the experimental which needed "feedback" to establish it's progress in the population , not surprising considering my previous medication traumatic event. However the out come was quite refreshing in as much that only a few hours after receiving my jab there was feeling of "well-being" a marked reduction of joint/muscle pains and cramps , A week earlier I had been totally reliant on a walking stick and had to take great care to maintain balance , after the jabs all these side problems disappeared and quality of life was restored . The overall effect was good but it had no effect on my ED and in fact the enclosed instructions actually warned the possibility of constriction of the "urethra" which indicated that problems were just over the horizon ---- which turned out to be true ----- But that's another story ) ------- (Medication :- Decapeptyl -SR 11.2mg for injection) ---back-soon,

Just an update since my last note on here, I had an appointment in mid February to discuss E/D with a Consultant. Before starting he asked me to perform a flow test and checked for retention. Unfortunately I was retaining a lot of water and flow was poor, so he advised to forget E/D and they arranged for me to go to hospital the next week as I still had a urine infection. The next 7 days I received Meropanem as an intravenous injection and the last 2 days of it I felt fantastic and went home on the Friday afternoon. Over the weekend my wife commented that I was back to my old self and it must have been a good drug. On the Monday pain in my Prostate and by the end of the week everything else had returned and could not pass water at night. Went to the Dr last Friday pm and was given Ofloxacin A/B to take, and by 3 am on Saturday I thought my Heart was going to bounce out of my chest plus I had a red rash on my chest. Contacted NHS24 and it took 3 hours to get a discussion with a clinical specialist who arranged for me to see a Dr at an out of hours centre. The Dr said I had taken a reaction to the drug so put me back on one I have had before which does not work. Saw my own Doctor yesterday and she is trying to contact Infectious Diseases again to try to get them to find an A/B that might work ( Previously a Dr at Infectious Diseases wanted to meet me, but when I rang back for an appointment, he had left the day before and his replacement was not prepared to meet me ,but would only speak to a Urologist, what a waste of time ). Now I am back in pain with a poor flow rate, and I am glad it is slow as it is so painful passing water and I am feeling so low as getting nowhere. When will it end.

Terry, Yea I can relate to your concern , My previous post relates up to early 2014 ,since then lot of water has passed and life goes on with ups and downs , My Decapepytl injections seem to be working as they are intended with the prostate, but it has done nothing for my Ed . On the instructions it says that the medication may cause constriction of the urethra ,which it did and caused serious urine flow reduction for which a catheter was recommended to reduce pain & cut down the midnight express to the loo , This was to be temporary to give the meditation time to work by shrinking the prostate . However I tried on two occasions to have the catheter removed but failed to meet the hospital requirements ,so am stuck with it . At this point my wife died of cancer so the ED has ceased to be important . I recently asked to try another removal but so far I am not having much luck . There are a few problems with being stuck with a catheter that no one wants to explain so I will put up another post in a day or so explaining ----- watch this space

I have a suprapubic catheter fitted now due to the water pipe to my penis is to narrow to pass urine easily. This will be renewed every three months to prevent infection. So guys l do not reccomend radiotheraphy after the damage it has caused to other parts of my internals. If l had gone for prostate surgery l would not be in this condition now.

Hello all,
Have you seen this older discussion? 😊
Treatments for prostate cancer are known to cause urinary problems, as they can damage the nerves and muscles that control when urination.

Have you experienced urination issues (incontinence, leaking, inability to pass urine) following treatment? How did you manage them? Are there any products, exercises or other lifestyle changes that have helped?
Feel free to share here!
Take care,

@Somya.P So far (three weeks after completion of radiation therapy) the main side effect has been urinary urgency together with low volume. I suppose the two are interrelated. Tamsulosin helps but isn't really adequate. It isn't designed for urgency. The treatment hospital discharged me with a list of available medications, one of which is intended to ease the urgency problem. When I phoned our local Medical Centre, the responding Dr cautioned me against the suggested medication because it can have some unpleasant side effects. So now I sit with adult nappies all day, and male urinary bottle by the side of my bed at night. I sleep in a separate bedroom from my wife for the time being. I also experience frequent, odd stabs of pain in the bladder or prostate area. Thankfully, these have not lasted more than a few seconds at a time and have not kept me awake at night (the bladder urgency awakens me often enough thank you!) This is my report back.
