@Courtney_J Hi Courtney, sorry I haven't been on in a moment, I've been busy with family things. I was diagnosed in 2016. I had started needing to use the toilet more, especially during the night, but I didn't think much of as it's a typical problem for us "old farts". My wife ended up pushing me to see my GP after it had gotten to 6-8 visits to the toilet during the night (I didn't realise it was that many, but my wife certainly did because it would wake her up every time!). Thank goodness she did, because after a urine sample, PSA test and MRI, it showed I had a tumour! I was shocked because I've always been in good health and very active. I went through a few rounds of radiotherapy since the cancer hadn't spread much. I really felt terrible during it but today I'm cancer free so I have to be thankful!

I was having trouble with going to the toilet loads of times a night as well as during the day, this would be late 2008 early 2009 . I went to the Drs was rectal examined ( not nice ) and within a few days got a phonecall from the surgery to come in to see the doctor. Went to see him and I've never seen a doctor go white when delivering news but he did. He said he'd never seen anyone my age have results like this without it being cancer (early 50's ) thankfully it was an enlarged prostate and I had some shaved off som not cancer. I was at the hospital this week as blood had been found in my urine and it seems as if I have an enlarged one again, it looks like a bone spur growing on my prostate. I.have been given tablets to shrink it so I'm hoping it will.

Hello @mjteddy,
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s heartening that your initial issue turned out to be an enlarged prostate rather than cancer, and it’s clear that you’ve been managing these challenges with a lot of strength. Now, facing a recurrence must bring its own worries, but it’s great that the doctors are able to treat it with medication, and I hope the tablets help you find relief soon.
Please know that you’re not alone, and the community is here for you every step of the way. Whether it’s sharing advice or simply talking things out, we’re all here to support you. Let us know how everything progresses and if there’s anything specific you need during this time.
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity Team 🌼
