I have a very rare tumour attatched to my skull which is inoperable. I've been on many different painkillers as I'm left with headaches that could kill a horse. Strange to say I'm actually used to the pain but it never goes away. I'm on MST continuous 30mg a day , used to be a lot more and I've been on every other pill known to man to help and nothing seems to help. My doctors and pain team are baffled as nothing they are trying seems to be helpful. I've been on pregamblin, gabapentin, tramadol, tegretol, codeine(I'm allergic) and many more. I was also on oramorph and it didn't seem to help. My diet and exercise has changed a lot for the better but I'm still left in agony all the time. I'm fighting a loosing battle here and I'm now suffering from anxiety as the pain scares me. Does anyone know of anything that might be able to give me a bit of relief?? I'd greatly appreciate any input on this matter.

Hi lisa
There are so many names of Lisa and I don't know which one you are. You said that you are on many painkillers and nothing helps. I wonder if you have tried any natural therapies. There is so much on Turmeric these days. It seems to be THE SPICE for cure all. Have you investigated into it? There is a web Site called "Turmeric for Health" They also have Questions and Answers section at the end of the e mails. You could always look up the web site and read all about it and see if there is any thing in there that can help you. its used and reccommended in several ailments including Cancers, Arthritis, Thyroid, Kidneys Radio/Chemo therapies and sevral other conditions. Read up on it. Ask a question, tell them what you have got and ask if Turmeric will help you. Of course you will have to check with your GP first as Turmeric does interfere with certain conditions and reacts with certain medication, eg. Diabetes medication and Blood thinners. So it wouldnt be advisable for you to start taking it without checking with the health Professional, How ever dietery Turmeric is quite safe. You can start off with a 1/4 teaspoon in your soups or smoothies, sprinkled on your casserol or cook with Turmeic. it is quite safe to do so. I am so sorry for your suffering and none of the medications helping. Did you know that Ginger, Garlic, Cinnamon are also pain relievers. Meditaion and relaxation, as well as Yoga also helps. Aeroma therapy is also very good. Please let me know if any of this helps.
Wish you the very best of luck. There is niothing worse than living continiously in pain.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have tried a good few natural remedies, Tumeric was great and I will try the rest!! Something is bound to work ha!!! Positive mental attitude, mindfulness and meditation do help (at times). I find it hard to relax sometimes because in all honesty, I'm quite afraid at the levels of pain I can be in sometimes, it's not nice and it can be scary but I'm will to try anything to get partial relief ??. So thank you again nineteen_gale very much appreciated xx

Hi Lisa
Yes, positivity helps a great deal. Do relaxation, meditation, Yoga, exercises, swim, Natural therapies as I suggested yesterday, and you will learn to manage your pain better. have you ever considered or your GP ever suggested Pain managemnet classes? its worth giving it a try. Don't be afraid of pain. Keep saying it to the pain "I am not going to let you win, I am going to conqeryou. As soon as the pain starts, distract yourself to do something you love doing most, be it listening to your favourit music, doing a cross wrod or Sudoku or phoning up your best friend or engage your self in an activiry that you like. i know its easy said than done when you are actually in pain, but give it your best shot.
Good luck my friend

Hi Nineteen_gale ??
thanks again for your advice, it really helps talking to people that understand, I have a pain team and different treatments that I have to try but unfortunately it's all trial and error. Where my tumour is attatched is very uncommon and it appears that because it's calcified, it's blocking any help of pain relief. This is why I try to remain upbeat and positive lol because nothing seems to work!! I've mainly got a great attitude towards it but there's just some days it's unbearable. But life has a funny way of moving on doesn't it ?? hope ur well and thanks again for the advice xxx

Has anyone tried the cannabis oil which can be obtained from a few health stores? I've seen articles on TV about it curing cancer etc. It's meant to be a great pain reliever? I'm thinking of getting it as my RA is pretty bad and I also have tailbone pain after an operation for prolapse left me with damaged nerves. I take gabepentin , codeine, paracetamol and lignocaine patches but the pain is still there. This oil is expensive but worth it if it helps?

Hi everyone
i take 450mg of pregablin a day, I have been on this dose for 15 years. As a Male weight issues have never really bothered me until 5 years ago I put on 10kg. I can get this gain down to about a 2kg gain, but not for long periods. It usually fluctuates every 4 or 5 months. I do have mobility problems so excercise is very difficult.
you have been given some good advise, I would most certainly look to other sources for pain control. I have been on morphine for twenty years my system has adapted so more medication is taken.
have a good positive mental attitude you will be surprised at the results.
kind regards
Chris

Wow, Gabapentine and Morphine for 15 and 20 years respectively? it must play havoc with your Digestive system and cause severe constipation. Gabapentine is not a drug that one should be on for so many years. it should be taken in acute stages and then gradually tapered off to a smaller doses and should be stopped within 6 months. Weight gain with this drug is a real issue. I was left on Gabapentine for 6 years and i gained 8kg. I suffered nightmares and drowsiness and post anaesthetics after major Spinal surgery sent me loopy. My Spinal surgeon put it down to being left on Gabapentine for 6 years and advised me to come off it. Sure enough I lost all 8kg soon after I stopped Gabapentine. i resolved to natural therapies after that and now control my pain with Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Omega 3, Glocosamine sulphate and MSM. The only prescribed medication I take for pain, is Tramadol 50mg 1 capsule with breakfast and that sees me through the day. I some times use Versatis patches when pain is intense. Although my mobility is not brilliant and I walk with 2 crutches, I am able to exercise and swim and that helps a great deal too. When in severe pain, I use MicroDoctor Active, which is a low frequency machine )Not TENSE Machine)with 4 sensors and I use it for 30 miutes and that helps a great deal
See if you can talk to your doctor to help you come of Gabapentine, if you want to , that is.
Good luck. Hope this helps

Hi nineteen_gale
thank you very much for your response, I am slowly making changes to my medicine regime as presently I take 24 tablets a day. It used to be more, I have been taking amytrypline 250mg a day for the same period but recently I have now got that level down to 150mg daily. I had to laugh at one of my drug reviews. My recent doctor was aghast at the high dose "good god man your taking a lethal dose! I replied I know! You put me on that prescription 15 years ago. Hey ho!
thank you for the very good advice, watch this space.
Regards
Chris

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
