I'm on gabapentin 300mg 3times daily, ibuprofen 400mg 2times daily and cocodamol as and when. I also have salonpas pain relief patches. Also the one person I would not be without is my amazing physiotherapist.

I am very much hoping to be put on Fentanyl patches and come off of Oxycontin . I just have to wait until my hospital appointment . I am generally coping very well . The only problem I do have with Co-Codamol , Dihydrocodeine and Oxycodone is constipation , which makes my stomach problems much worse , this is why I really want to be put on a patch instead of tablets . I try to be as active as I can , I still do the gym , treadmill and weights , I just have to be careful not to pull from my neck . Physiotherapy I find causes more harm than good ... any manipulation in the part of my spine that is crumbling causes it to flare up .

I don't think physio is for everybody. Because each persons symptoms and flares are different what works for one won't work for another.

@Hamrowannie , Hi , you are quite right . I used to go to an osteopath but one time I went it made my condition much worse , so I never went again . It is daft how they send everyone for physio . There must be many people like myself that find it aggravates their condition . I hope you have a nice day :-)

You too Daren, my physio helps me and my OA so I stick with him. He is fab. But I understand it's not for everyone

i am on fluroxatine and have been for over 7 years roughly although ive been depression free now and again but not much! i usually take 1 in the morning but when i feel crap like i do now i take 2, but to be honest its not helping, and im sure they dont do anything anymore im sure ur body gets used to these, can anyone agree with me, and should i go back to gp and ask for something different cause im at my lowest again and have been for the last 3 months b4 that had a period of feeling really good for about a year, but its come back and with a vengance, i continue to take these even when i feel ok so i have never not been on then for 7 years, any advise of what i could change to that works and hasnt no bad side effects? thanks in advance:)i also have rhematoid arthritis which i have had for coming up to 14 years now, and that doesnt help;(

Hi @louise40 I am taking fluoxetine 20mg at night along with Pregabalin , Promethazine and Mirtazapine 30mg , I get no side effects from any of these and I very rarely feel depressed or anxious ... Rather than change to something new , why don't you ask them to add something to the Fluoxetine . I can not tell you for certain you will not have side effects , as we all react differently . The main side effect with Mirtazapine is sedation and this is why they tell you to take it at night . The good thing with Mirtazapine as it has the fastest onset of antidepressant action and it is one of the most efficient , having high success rates . It also mixes with other medications . I have Osteoarthritis in my neck that gives me a lot of pain . I take Oxycontin for this and I get no complications mixing it with my Psychiatric medications . If they insist in changing the Fluoxetine for something new , there are dozens of other antidepressants you could try that other people have had success with . Very few suite me , but that's not to say they would not suite you . Very best wishes

I have listed what works and does not work for me personally , on the " Depression " thread

I have Naproxin and because of the nature of the pain, Tramadol and Zomorph. I still get pain, but it would be much worse without these :)
My husband used to be on Pregabalin for pain but has just had his first Cortisone injection. Unfortunately it did not work for him, probably due to the condition causing it.

@Suncatcher2015 , For my pain I take Oxycodone 40mg x2 daily , Pregabalin 300mg x2 daily , Co-Codamol x8 daily , Hyocine Butylbromide 10mg x8 daily ... But next Tuesday I am being started on Fentanyl patches , it can not come soon enough because the tablets are making my stomach problem far worse . Even with all those tablets it only takes the edge off of the pain , I do not think anything would totally eliminate the pain ... I used to take Tramadol but it caused a seizure .

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
