Are you allergic to Ginger family? I have never heard of any one having hot flushes with Turmeric unless you are allergic to Ginger family, as turmeric is one. Did you try supplements or dietary turmeric. Dietary is supposed to be a better and safer way to take turmeric, as long as you have it with black pepper and fats, such as olive oil or coconut oil.
Good luck.

I can't take turmeric either, it aggravates my IBD. However I use ginger a lot to settle the reflux caused by a hiatus hernia which the Dr's won't operate on because of my asthma

I have OSTEOPOROSIS as one many conditions. I was taking Steroid tablets 5. m.g. Plus booster dozes from age 14-20s Also Prolapsed lower discs at later life which could never be operated because of other Health problems. Leaving totally Bed Ridden for 2. Years I do mean Totally Bed Ridden. In fact it was G.P. at time who removed a door to place over mattress which I had to lie on as being solid and flat reducing to minimal movement below waist continuously over 2. Years leaving everything done for me! Caused marriage breakdown after year and moved to a sister for second year of Bed Ridden again never moving from same board. A year after which I attended Technology Informatics College and passed CADCAM Exams with Distinction. Also numerous other courses both at other Colleges and online for number of years. Never give up on Life. Always tomorrow. Good philosophy for myself! Hopefully others.

You have nothing but my admiration for not giving up on life despite your medical condition. How did you manage to study and do all the exams being bedridden, goodness alone knows. Well don Jon. Thank you for your encouragement to others
Wish you good luck in our life and hope that you are having all the help you deserve from organizations such as DHSS Social services etc.

Can I mention Issues Regarding None Medical Prescribed Treatment E.g On different none Medicine. You should remember the Prescription is designed to work with some other Medications but not all as tested. Also Patient information of side affects known and unknown? Also perhaps Unique to few patients? Helps NHS. Third Party Treatments are not as Rule considered as suitable to mix with Prescription no matter what Companies say about being Safe. The exception is if you’re Medical Advisor you should always inform if taking Third Party Treatments? Approves. Especially if your condition is both Complex or Multiple Conditions. On personal Level if not Prescription thru G.P or Consultant within Medical Professional. I Do Not Take Even Once To Just Try? Possibly some temporary Relief but at what Long Term Affects? Importantly if you have added Medications, whilst taking Third Party Treatments. Caution is Wise Bye-word and Safer. It is your Health and only Medical Professional has Information and Knowledge of Best Way to Treat. As I can Testify. At age 7. When NHS Started. Also an Amazing Hospital Doctor during another time in Hospital from illnesses from age 3. at age 14. not only Diagnosed and Treatment started Including Convalescence.

@ I have never heard of devil’s claw. Thanks for the tip. I will certainly look into it.

@Lynnec
Devil's claw does not suit every one. I tried it once and had dreadful stomach upset. if you try it, go for a smaller dose particularly if you are a senior citizen. Check with your pharmacist or your GP to ensure it does not interact with any of your prescribed medication. it is indeed very good for Arthritic pain

All useful comments, thank you. Here is the latest one from my GP, I had a steroid/cortisone injection in one of my knees last year at my local hospital. It is a much larger one than my GP administers but gives relief for up to a month. You can only have 2 in a 12 month period so as I have two knees affected you have to wait 6 months for that one. For the hospital injection you cannot drive home and cannot go out for a day or two until the effect is utilised. It feels like a local freeze job as at the dentist, very numb and stiff, you can't walk properly if you wanted to. After two days its great! Much more movement and far less pain. I recently asked could I have one again at the hospital? I was told the injections now cost £1000 and not viable to the practice!! My GP gave me the much smaller cortisone one which gives minimal relief. Definately cost driven in my area.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
