I am in receipt of low care and high rate mobility on DLA. A couple of years ago they reduced my care costing me about £200 per month. My care needs have now increased but I am too afraid to have it re-assessed in case in their wisdom I lose the lot. I find it very difficult to walk unaided and am in pain all the time and am on regular morphine. I am 67 years but attained 65 years after the cut off period. I am told I will have no problem keeping it but I have read so much of people losing all and dying weeks later. Without being political I feel this government has no sympathy or care for sick and disabled people, in fact their policies are making them even worse.

i can understand your worries about being reassessed, wen i was working as a volunteer completing forms, i found out that, if you do reapply for another assessment, they can either (a)leave things as they are (b) lower or stop them (c adjust and increase them? i had mine reassessed many years ago due to worsening health and new conditions and my level was increased to middle care, as i already had high mobility. i will probably be asked to apply for PIP sometime next year. i will apply and understand that if my evidence supports my claim, i may not have to attend an assessment in person?
however am wary that they may have to attend and if i do, they may change my assessment levels. but i have lots of evidence and will take them to the assessment hearing, i am collecting new evidence as time goes by.
i can not even begin to suggest what you should do, but if you do reapply ensure you have all the medical evidence you can get and use it, also make sure you have copies in case the D.S.S loss some of yours. only you can weigh up everything and decide?

Hi all I have a lifetime award of DLA but recently got a letter saying that I would or could be called for an assessment for PIP even though I have a lifetime award of DLA. I am now over 65 but was awarded the DLA when I was medically retired from work in 2007 after a year or so I was given the lifetime award. All and any of these forms scare people they are a nightmare and repetitive pages to catch you out that is why a lot of people do not fill them in. You are not always a winner on the first application on most of them it I fear is to put you off making a claim.

Hello to all,,,the change from dla to pip is causing so many people great stress,,,and all the different stories and newspaper reports are very scarey to say the least,,,,,I am getting dla high for mobility and middle for care,,,,so I am also dreading the arrival of the pip forms onto the mat,,,,,I have read of people losing their cars and feeling so lost and then start the battle to get the things back,,,,my approach to these forms, is read them through,,then make a brew,,take up the pen and fill in the first page,,,,,the easy bit,,,,then read the next question make notes,,make another brew and then list the things wrong with me,,,and so on,,,,,sit and rest,,,,,then continue,,,,,,fill in this question then that question,,,,,,,I am not looking forward to all that again,,,,,,ttfn from Karen.

I have just applied for PIP my i filled in most of it then my mental health worker did the rest, I also had ESA interview and was scary but gotta wait 2 weeks to know about ESA one , and PIP could take months (it took months to even get an ESA inteview as i was on ESA for around 3 years you see)
I think like everyone said Citziens advice are great with form filling, (speaking as someone who is dylexic and hates forms) Or if you do have any psy team or health care team if they write a supporting comment it helps alot!
Take care all the best from
Hazel :)

Please never complete the AA or PIP yourself, there are plenty of agencies out there that will support, unsure where you live in the UK but Macmillan Long Term Illnesses are great they even do home visits. As said previously depends on where you live in the UK. Jan123

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

HI,
I'm really suffering with my osteo arthritis, it's present in both hips; my knees and ankles. I also suffer with advanced spondylitis. Also have B12D Pernicious anaemia . Mobility is my problem; and some days I cannot walk more than a few steps.
The attendance allowance form is laborious and repetitive in it's requests for information.
I'd prefer to write an Essa on how disabling this is.
Anyone else filled out the Attendance allowance form? Only applies to UK residents..
Thanks in advance for any replies..
