Spasticity is a difficult condition that causes certain muscles to relax and contract which creates jerking movements. It is generally located in arms or legs.

Hi Pleasance and Patricia. I too empathise with you both. MRI scans have only identified 2 "smallish" lesions in my brain stem (last scan was almost 2 yrs ago but because I have now had MS for 41 yrs, fairly doubt this will have significantly changed). This dichotomy - how these 2 "little things" can cause soooooooo many problems: need glasses with prisms - daily, varying degrees of "double vision", every physical/cognitive function taking so, so long to complete and such frequent "clumsiness" that almost always causes chaos (inside and outside the house) , is something I don't think I will ever fully understand but hey, think we all have to get through this the best way we can. I too am on baclofen, gabapentin, diazepam and morphine sulphate (caps and liquid).

Mine comes in my leg and across my scar where I had my mastectomy it is like a real sharp pain shooting down in my leg and across my scar it's really painful at times

It "sounds like" we both kind of "struggle" with "knowing what we are doing - technologically speaking" (ha-ha) BUT know Josephine is "always here" to help all of us out! It also appears that we are "managing somehow" to keep in touch with each other...…….. so I'm FAIRLY confident that we will be able to carry on "talking to each other" either +/or "publicly/privately".

It's good to know that people are listening and communicating together sometimes I feel really stupid asking these kind of questions as I always feel that when I do chat to people face to face they usually look at me as though I am making things up so thank you for not making me feel that way having so many different illnesses and cancer I do find I have different pains because I look good on the outside I dont feel good on the inside and my anxiety is making me very nervous but God bless you all and thank you for helping it means a lot xxxx

As you already know, Carenity contributes to medical research by way of carrying out online surveys.

We are going to conduct a new survey to better understand patients’ and caregivers’ experience with Botulinum Toxin A injections.

For this project, we are looking for a patient who could help us prepare the questionnaire by proofreading it and submitting their comments (1 hour interview by phone).

The patient should be undertaking Botulinum Toxin A treatment and suffering from spasticity due to a Stroke/Traumatic Brain Injury.

This patient will be paid around £100 for the service provided.

If you’d like to help with this project, please let us know. The first one to respond will be selected :)

You are not ALONE! We are ALL in this together and surely this "solidarity" and "sharing" can only make us ALL stronger? Yes, we all probably have different symptoms BUT simultaneously can sooooo much naturally, intrinsically, empathise and understand one another "differently" than others who do not have MS????????

Take care and I'll ALWAYS try to "be here" for you and anyone/everyone else (even there will probably be times this may not be possible BUT sometime, somehow, somewhere etc, I'll be "back") !!!!

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
