Go to your GP and get yourself referred for SLEEP STUDIES that will find if you have sleep apnoea.

I now have thick socks on for bed or keep my slippers on if I have to sleep in the chair down stairs in my reclining chair.

I have been using a CPAP for 6 years and I find the masks very uncomfortable. They make my head itch where the straps press against my scalp. In summer they make you sweat and in winter I get condensation in my mask! Sometimes if you can keep the bedroom slightly warm it prevents breathing in the cold air. However, the benefits outweigh the problems as I remember how tired I was before diagnosis. I was constantly drowsy, poor memory and concentration, struggled to make decisions, depressed etc. I would drive but couldn't remember how I got to my destination! Very scary! Try and stick with it and find the most comfortable mask.

Hi gerriplayer
This is gonna sound really daft???? A few years ago I had a similar condition in that I would have very bad sinus infections about every month. My wife and I were away from home at a Country and Western Festival in Brean, nr. Bristol. I had a particularly episode one evening, and one of our friends who happens to be in the Red Cross took me to the local hospital and there I saw the duty Doctor and was diagnosed with, wait for it..... 'Night Hey-fever'. Ever heard of such a thing?? Anyway I was prescribed a NASAL SPRAY called 'NASOFAN', I spray up my nostrils once in the morning and just before bed. Do you know what Gerri? I have not suffered since. A coincidence?? I don't know, but I haven't had the problem since..
Maybe worth seeing your GP and finding out.
Good Luck Richard

Thanks for the info Richard. Never heard of night hayfever. Will try spray anyway. But my problem is definitely coming from the CPAP

Thanks WendyAnne, my mask is not uncomfortable. But it does make me wake up often during the night. Problem is with the temperature control that is causing sinus problems.

I have a full face mask with a humidifier My only problem is the condensation in the tubing it makes the face mask connection make a "farting " noise. Best thing I ever have been given is my cpap machine . It's like having a new life x

Angelika your mask maybe making noises because it is to lose or the seal is worn, contact the centre if you need a new mask. They are normally very quick at sending either a seal or new mask, you can try some different designs if it continues to find which one suits you. My wife's masks normally last around six months before leaks appear. Don't ignore leaks as it caused serious issues with my wife's eye.
