I have had prostate removal surgery. And 6 and a Half weeks of Radiotherapy later when I had Healed up. The best advice l would give is.. stay positive and do whatever the Doctors tell you. There are no short cuts for prostate cancer. Stay safe.

I would advise a newly person newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer to listen to advise and try and talk to people who’ve been there and gone through each of the alternative treatments available or offered. Try not to get bogged down in technical things and think about your future. Things are developing at a great rate and there is lots to look forward too. Talk to people.

We all know the shock when you hear the dreaded words , you have Cancer. My main problem was I couldn't understand how I had cancer but didn't feel unwell apart from more tired but put it down to age. Took a few weeks to come to terms with it, will stress don't bottle things up, talk with family or close friends. I didn't start feeling unwell till starting the treatment, not every one will get the side effects from the hormone treatment, myself have suffered quite bad, hot flushes, tiredness, lack of energy, managed mainly to keep the mood swings under control, the injections are bit painful but think of the end goal. Had my scan this week to put the marking tattoos ready for my radiotherapy to start on 3rd April. Think carefully what treatment you want don't get bullied by the surgens into having the prostate removed, go with what you are comfortable with, myself I'm having radiotherapy due to also having a ongoing spinel channel nerve damage , my consultant advised it would be more comfortable than having surgery due to legs being in a uncomfortable position for operation. There will be days and certain things where you will get very depressed and need time alone . It helped me doing 2 fundraising events to raise funds for prostate cancer research, first in November 60-mile in month, I ended up walking 164 miles then February I did a 56 mile walk in month, ended up 102 miles , was a great help been out on my own with the dogs . Take each day as it comes along and have faith and trust in your medical team

Hi, my Prostrate Treatment has been an initial increase of PSA value to above the 5 as set by the NHS for a patient of my age. Then the treatment continued with a biopsy which was negative. Further 6 monthly PSA blood tests. Another biopsy approx 2 years later was negative. My PSA still goes up in small bits and I am being monitored with 6 monthly blood tests.
Presently I have a PSA of 13 and due to have a hospital appointment to decide what to do next.

Hello everyone,
How are you today? 😊
Going through prostate cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond, can be a challenging and quite scary journey. But sharing experiences can truly help others who are facing the same road.
If you've been through it, what advice would you give?
Are there things you wish you had known earlier?
What words of encouragement would you offer to someone newly diagnosed?
