Good to hear you're making good progress. The exercises are so crucial for a good outcome. Although I had some hydrotherapy which caused a flare up of arthritis in my right ankle! I'm 6wks post op. It's been a struggle as the anti coag meds caused a drop in the red blood cells. This brought on fatigue and shortness of breath. Has anyone else had this?

Well i am now 12 weeks post op and have had a few ups and downs..last week being one were i was in a lot of pain again but now it is better..i guess this is how it will be until i have healed properly as apparently i have been told that it can take up to a year for the healing process to take place....mentally i am still anxious and hate looking at my knee as it is still swollen and looks horrible does anyone else feel like this? My knee feels hard and just not part of me i feel i hate it if that makes sense?

hello, I am. Ow 6 months post op and I am now having to go back for a procedure because scar tissue has formed between my kneecap and top of fibula. Not sure what the treatment is but I'm on 24 hour call as it entails anaesthetic and an injection, but not steroid. Has anyone else had this? If this doesn't help it will be micro surgery to reduce the scar tissue. My knee feels just like yours, not part of me yet sore all the time and sleeping is non existent. When I do wake I have to slowly stretch my leg until I can bend it slightly. Once on my feet I'm not too bad. It's the bending which is impossible at the moment. At least they are listening and believing me now. Hoping for better times.

How awful for you..i hope that the operation goes well and you improve afterwards..i stopped doing the exercises as they were making the pain worse and suddenly i was almost pain free..i still think it feels hard so will be watching to make sure that it heals well..the swelling has now gone down and i have resumed the exercises but am taking it carefully this time..i was supposed to have an appointment with the surgeon after 3 months as i was in so much pain and not sleeping when i went for the 6 weeks check up but never got called in but as i am now feeling better i will leave it and wait for the yearly one instead..hope you feel better soon.

Well i hope everyone is feeling better? I had my knee op at the end of march and apart from some stiffness when going downstairs i am doing well..i still hate the feel of my knee as it is hard and does not feel like flesh (which of course it isn’t) but am pain free and walking well..i am hoping to try horse riding soon as i am desperate to get back in the saddle but a little nervous as horses are unpredictable and obviously falling off would not be good..have tried a short jog but it hurt so i stopped but will try again soon.

Well i an now 4 years post op! I hated my new knee as it felt stiff and i could feel it every time i moved...i never received a check up at1 year as was promised so i have no idea if the replacement is ok.
A few months ago a started to get sharp pains in the new knee plus a clicking sound when i went upstairs which was a bit unnerving...if not for Covid i would have got it checked also my GP is only doing phone calls so would not have seen me anyway but now it seems to be working well so i am now wondering if it was fitted too tight and has now loosened up?
Has anyone else had this happen?
On the plus side i have been able to take up jogging again or rather walk/jog and have been horse riding ..was a bit nervous at first as i didn’t want to fall off and damage this knee but getting more confident now and was good to be in the saddle again.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
