Hi,
I was only diagnosed in August with T2 diabetes. Have just had a first podiatry appointment this morning. All checked out ok. I had a first ever flu jab last week and since yesterday have felt a bit rough - blaming it as think I'm coming down with a cold (head cold)! Fuzziness in my head but I am due to go for an eye test and extra diabetic test next week as could be my eyes. I am not taking any medication for T2 as yet and trying to manage the condition with diet alone. Have completely changed my diet and as a result I am almost a stone lighter which is good (only another half stone to go for my ideal weight). Due my three monthly checkup at end of next month where, I hope, my blood sugar will have dropped) as I really do not want to be taking any tablets. My blood pressure was high so now on a BP tablet and that has dropped significantly. Fingers crossed my cholesterol has dropped too as, again, I don't want to be taking a tablet for that either. I am determined to beat this one way or another!

Off to Edinburgh Mill tomorrow for some of those socks. Thanks for mentioning them.
I have arthritis in my spine, also my ankle which I broke many years ago & now have an ulcer where the plate & pin is, have to keep having it dressed. Think those socks will be ideal as ordinary socks dig in.

I have had both knees replaced in the last 10 months and I am having my first hip replaced next month. In a lot of pain in 1 shoulder and both thumbs. There seems to be a vast difference across the health authorities as to which ages they will offer joint replacements.

Hi we all seem to be suffering at the moment. My hands are pretty bad at the moment, some days wake up not being able to move my thumbs and first two fingers. Really annoying when I can't get the cap off the milk for a coffee. I have found though that wearing compression gloves , opted fingers, can be extremely beneficial. I can get away a lot with just wearing for a couple of hours a day. Other times wear longer, docents stop me from working as fingerless tops. . I have been taking hydroxy chloroquine recently, now after four months beginning to feel a bit of benefit from these tablets. The consultant is optimistic that I will gradually need less of other pain relief as time goes on. Really hope so.
Keep well ,keep moving. All the best

The thumb joint op sounds good, but in my case I can't even get a referral to hospital to a Rheumatoligist for my thumb joints , gout or osteo in my feet . I've been given 1 pair of shoe liners over a two years ago not sure when the budget allows me another pair. My Gp is willing to make a referral if I pay for the consultation but feels they will only agrree the same existing regime thats presuming they accept I have arthritis. And like others on here they will require me to diet to loose weight. But weight has no bearing on the hands. I am sure there are thousands suffering who wish there was a cure, or an option that goes work more fully. Research is the only way forward in the case of Arthritic pain.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
