Hi all, I'm new to the site too, I have osteo arthitis in both feet, both knees and both hands, had a partial knee replacement on the left 6yrs ago but now need a full, having a full replacement on the right next Tues, 21st July. Have had 4 bones in left foot fused 5yrs ago but still get a lot of problems with it, I take tramadol and dihidracodiene as and when I need them, but at least 4 of each a day of each. My hands are getting worse over time, finding it difficult to do things like small buttons, picking small stuff up etc. I do use voltarol gel on my hands but don't find it that effective to be honest.

I find like someone said that volterol helps me a lot and I get pain in near enough all my joints due to RA and on really bad days I need that volterol but sometimes I wear a knee support on my knees or an elbow one and it minimises the pain, and also add protection to it.

I'm new to this site also and I have arthritis in lots of joints. Had a total shoulder replacement 2 weeks ago, also had knee ops in the past. I find tramadol is the best for the pain but you have to be careful with it so I try to restrict it to the night to help me sleep

I have osteoarthritis in two fingers on both hands. As well as using Voltarol cream and wearing fingerless gloves when in pain, I have bought some polystyrene-type tubing from Amazon which cuts to size. You can then push a knife (or fork) down the tubing which then allows a more comfortable grip. It is also a lot cheaper than buying specially adapted cutlery! I'm luckier than most as although I have had this for about 7 or 8 years, it is intermittent, some days really bad - some days not at all. Has anyone else got any tips please? Thanks.

I was vomiting with the methotrexate tables for my RA so went onto the injections which cause no side effects at all. I have widespread joint pain every day that varies in severity. I have woken up today barely able to walk with swollen fingers and wrists. I am waiting to go into hospital for my 9 monthly Rituximab infusions. Anyone else have this treatment?

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
