Hi Mmcard, I have been on Methotrexate since 2010 , not for Rheumatoid Arthritis,( though I know this is prescribed for RA), but for Cerebral Vascilitis, I have had very few problems with it , just occasionaly mouth ulcers, a small price to pay, for still being alive! So far it keeps my condition under control combined with prednisilone, pain in muscles and joints is one of my symptoms, which although not banished , are reasonably bearable.A monthly blood test is obligatory , as this is quite a"Nasty" drug and can have severe side effects.I wish you luck, and hope your RA is kept stable on it.

I'm on methotrexate too, no side effects so far (4 years) I am very bad though, got fed up of having blood tests so stopped, been told off by my doctor after not going for a year. Now we've agreed I have them done every 3 months!
I have had no symptoms of RA for 4 years but recently doctor stopped my prednisolone and I have been achy all over since. (I did fall over recently and seriously hurt the muscles in one arm, now I dont know what is aches from RA and what from the fall, although that was 3 weeks ago now)
I'm planning to ask if I can go back on prednisolone, anyone else had same issue please?

I have found tat the use of arnica tablets and a teaspoon of the strong manuka honey really helps it does take around a month to start to have noticeable effects but is worth it and they are natural so no nasty side effects and are widely available.

Hiya everyone
I have just joined this site,at least i know now that there are other sufferers out there just trying to cope with osteoarthritis in their own way,i have it in my hands, knees and feet, some days are better than others but on a bad day makes me miserable.Have noticed as it gets worse in my finger joints that my nails are now not growing very well, flaking and breaking off,has anyone else suffered this? Just wondered if it was connected.Any feedback and pain relief tips would be much appreciated, thank you x

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
