Mine is in the lower lung so yes I had the camera into my lung with biopsy taken, and one into my stomach which was clear. I was awake through it as well just was uncomfortable but did it. My Tumer is not treatable only with chemo the radiotherapy is for my shoulder which is secondary. I'm on patches of morphine as the liquid one wasn't for me. Plus painkillers and just one steroid at the moment. Didn't realize you had so many sessions of radiotherapy, but if it works it's worth it. I appreciate the information you have, how do you find your lung nurses? I find when I have to ring them there is never anyone there. I'm at Preston hospital, were are you and do you find it any easier?

@Janette same for me,i had the pink card they give you,in case you need the hospital or nurses,,i used it twice to phone them,,,could never get through though.i am in southampton,, and the hospital is one of the best for neuro patients, they fly them in from all over,,,,i hear the helicoptors landing day and night,on the roof of the hospital,,about 1 mile from me,,,the hospital has its own cancer research lab, so many diff types of trials you can opt for re cancer,,i stayed away from them,,,i am classed as terminal,,and have palliative care planned ,for when the time comes,,,my consultant told me there is an unofficial league,,, i am in 2nd place for hampshire, lol . its for the longest surviving lung cancer patient.....he told me . that . approx 2 patients in 1000 . make it to 5 years . and 1 patient in 1000 will make it to 10 years,,,i am 4 years now since treatment ended,,,and to be honest,,i feel ok and in my head i am not ill....i had the left lung collape about 2 years ago,,the one with the tumour in it,,,,it was inoperable. too close to my heart, antway, they see this as the best thing that happened to me,,cause the lung collaped, encaseing the tumour, which means, there is no way the tumour can grow or spread,,,the down side is,my lung capacity,,,cant walk very far,,and cold air/outside/ . makes me cough relentlessly,,,im mostly housebound////probs i have now////short of breath, cant sleep a lot of the time,,,,im up all hours drinking tea... going to the loo,can take a while as tablts can cause constipation,,,,and on occassions during the day,,,i feel real tired with no warning,,,i get a dull ache in between my shoulder blades,,,im told this is caused by cancer in the lung,,,,,,,,oh and if i knock my hands or leg,, i get a real bad almost black bruise,,,this they tell me is from chemo damaging the immune system...i must of had 30 chest infections after chemo ended,,,,this again was explained away as chemo damaging the immune system,,,,,chemo got a lot to answer for,,,i asked the nurses back then,to explain how chemo worked,,,andplease explain it as though your speaking with a child,so i can understand it, they did,,and i fully understood,,,,they told me that chemo is a liquid poison that they put in the blood stream via a needle,,,,,the poison goes straight the the cancer cells and attaches itself to them,,,and that they have liquid metal particals,,,so now the cancer cells are metalic, so when you have radio therapy. the laser heats the cancer cells and the metal fries the cancer cells,,,,,,she also said the latin name for chemo used, translated to FLESH EATING, sorry for spelling mistakes,,,aint got me glasses on,,and i type with 1 finger lol.....dont know if any of this is relevent to you,,,,,,i knew nothing at all about cancer, till i was diagnosed,,,take care,,,,

John, you've had your problems then, I'm assuming your not working now. I get easily bruised but that's because I take blood thinners for heart failure to hopefully prevent a stroke. I'm like you mainly housebound but any excuse or offer I'm out with the rest of them. I'm struggling with hot swears at the moment, don't know if it's my medication, that's just another question for oncologist. I finally got through to the lung nurse specialist, that was a waste of time, I asked why my doctor cancelled my MRI, all she said was to be honest I don't know. Talk about keeping you informed I tend to disagree. Anyway only have to wait till Wednesday hopefully get the info from horses mouth lol. Anyway take care and thanx again for info.
Ps, I'm on terminal treatment as you'll know what that means

I was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer - Limited Stage in Oct 2018 (Left lung half wasted and a tumour, mass on chest, and spread to lymph nodes near chest and lung). I have been through three x 3-day Chemotherapy sessions and my next one is on 30th Jan. I have also had three weeks of twice daily Radiotherapy as in-patient, and have been told I will be having 6 x Chemotherapy sessions in total. Three days after the first Chemo session I started to lose my hair, am now completely bald (my Sinead O'Connor look I call it), and an extremely itchy head. Three days after the second Chemo session I got blisters in my gums (I wear full dentures) but I was advised to get a certain mouthwash, can't remember the name off-hand but it had the Flam in it lol), I had the third Chemo session starting on the last day of the 3-week Radiotherapy (45 hits) and was fine for a week until the steroids stopped then all of a sudden I couldn't eat or swallow without severe pain and acid burning (even my own spittle), and ulcers all over my gums. I was admitted into hospital and discharged a week later with less pain and burning and with a load of Fresubin 2 kcal and Fresubin 5 .kcal Shot drinks and a load of steroids to be taken and weaned off gradually and paracetamol. One week later and I am almost back to normal eating and definitely drinking loads and ready for my next chemo session in a week woo hoo!! My CSNs are an amazing bunch of people who are so totally supportive and my hospital (St Bartholomew's in London is fantastic. The second hospital I was in (Homerton Hospital in Hackney - my local) were so good at dealing with the major side effects of the third chemo. By the summer time I am hoping and wishing for a good outcome and in the meantime I intend to stay as positive as possible. Will keep you posted. Good luck all and take care. Georgy xx

I was diagnosed last February stage 4 lung cancer, smoked since my teens, have tried to stop so many times I am still puffing mad or what. Currently having chemotherapy and immunotherapy every three weeks, not nice side affects the tiredness is awful, last scan oncologist said the cancer is stable, take a day at a time, the survival rate is not good., good luck to you all.

I did used to smoke and was fighting with myself to stop smoking because I found it so hard to give up when I got my diagnoses of small cell lung cancer, it took me another month to actually stop and I have been off the fags since last October. I am on combination chemotherapy and radiation and have had 4 chemo sessions so far with two more to go before I know how it has all panned out.

Hello everyone,
I thought it would be an interesting discussion to see which members still smoke, and which members smoked, after their diagnosis of lung cancer.
Do you smoke? did you smoke? How did you stop?
