Hello steven elvin, sorry to hear about the diverticulitis condition, help for you requires looking at what gives you problems, then looking at what is left to be suitable for the diabetes, then creating a plan to help support both conditions, tricky thing but you want to keep as well as possible, it will be a long road to balance.
Have you considered getting help from the diverticulitis clinics/nurses who work in this field, could be that you may have work on the diverticulitis condition to get it settled with medication and diet, then as above working the diet plan for the diabetes worked into it. I am not very knowledgeable on your condition ,but I am aware that it is very difficult to put up with and can bring you down with the way it causes pain and problems, not nice to have, and put up with.
I think I will do some research to understand the needs of this condition, then put the diabetes diet needs in later.
Steven a brave out look is vital to keep your spirits up and in control of the discomfort you are in, well keep yourself safe, for nowttfn from Karen.

Hello to you and all other members who are struggling with metformin, I take this medication and have been fortunate with it and do not remember any problems, I have been on it since about 2008-ish. The bumf sheet in the box, gives the info needed. Have you mentioned these things to your doctor, diabetic specialist doctor or your diabetic specialist nurse? Metformin is the first choice medication that is used to start the treatment plan with. How do you take your dosage? after your breakfast and evening dinner, after about 10 or so minutes, to allow your food to commence the digestion process and them, the tablets are taken, timing is everything with certain medications.
Have you tried the Diabetes UK web site, there is a heap of information to help you with the problems with diabetic medications.
So ttfn from Karen.

Hello steven elvin, metformin the last try? who is telling you this information? The injections are new and there are few different ones.
I am using Victoza, once a day at 1.2 ml, having built up from 0.6ml. I use this injection in conjunction with the metformin of 2 x 500g twice daily, Gliclazide 120mg twice daily (this is reducing slowly) these for the daily drugs for the diabetes.
The only other injections for T2 is being put onto Insulin for very uncontrolled diabetes. How is your Diabetes Specialist Nurse to get along with and being able to chat with her and get a working plan. Have you seen the hospital diabetes doctor for their input to your treatment?, ttfn from Karen

Hi all.
I'm new here so here goes. My gripe is why don't GPS give out test strips and lacets on prescription... That way we could see if the metformin is working proper or not...
Thanks all

Hi, does anyone have any experience with metformin? I am getting terrible side effects (diarrhoea, sorry) and thinking of trying something else to control my blood sugar levels. Can anyone recommend other meds that works well? Any advice is appreciated!! thanks x
