I have been advised not to have the first vaccine but am hoping that the Oxford one will be OK for me to have. It will give me a better chance of only getting covid mildly if I get it.

I am prepared to accept the vaccine, but I do feel wary of the side effects ect. Plus the speed it is being given with little notice to arrange transport as specially as we are in lockdown. As a registered sheilded person with mobility issues too I am concerned as to how I will get to whereever I have to go . Are Taxis still running during this lockdown? Or is the local ring& ride available for such medical need? Appointments are quite confusing too especially for older & sick people. Hope I get mine before 15th February as suggested as it is stressfull for everyone waiting don't you think.

If you keep listening to social media and all the fake news about people dying after the vaccine, you will get no where. So far 4million 600 people have received vaccine and there afe no officially reporyed deaths. My son works clodely with the govt. Aand organizes vaccine roll out. He himself had his vaccine yesterday. So have my husband and myself and we are fine. The choice is yours. It is not obligatory.

I have copd and I'm petrified of catching covid, so the minute I'm offered it I will be there in a flash.

@Rosetta The choice is yours. We are all 'guinea pigs' when it comes to new medications, vaccines, new illnesses, and more.
Should you be offered the vaccine, turn it down and then get Covid, don't complain. Not many will feel sympathetic should this happen; hopefully it will not.
Not just animals are used as 'guinea pigs', adults are too! I've had epilepsy for 47 years now and can assure you have been utilised by doctors and Neurologists on many medications on a trial basis for several years.
If one doesn't make the effort, take up the offer and try then don't be surprised when others don't feel sorry for you.

Hi Lesmal,
Everyone has a choice, it's my choice, and trust me I do not want sympathy if I get Covid, however if you were given Cannabis for example would you take it ????

@Rosetta As I said in my previous post, the choice is yours. Cannabis is illegal in some countries, and of course, one could also admit depending on its legality, this could be given on 'guinea pig status'.
Just remember by your not wanting to have the vaccine, you could possibly, not knowingly, pass on the virus to another member of the community.
Wishing you a pleasant day.

@Rosetta I'm not sure where you're getting that information, but the vaccine was definitely tested on humans, just in a more accelerated fashion. I have a friend in America who actually participated in one of the trials.

I will def get the vaccine as soon as offered. Obviously it's new and we don't know everything about how it works/stops transmission etc. but anything that offers hope to get back to some sort of `normal' life is good with me

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
The pharmaceutical groups Pfizer (USA) and BioNTech (Germany) announced on Monday 9 November that their vaccine candidate is 90% "effective" in preventing Covid-19 infections, according to preliminary results of their large-scale phase 3 trial, which is still ongoing.
What do you think about this? Do you plan to be vaccinated as soon as the COVID-19 vaccine is on the market?
Feel free to discuss and share in the comments below!
Take care,
Courtney
