Well said Mr chips totally agree why should you put yourself at risk ,they will be the first to complain if they are I'll with this pandemic really I think it should be made mandatory everyone should be made to have it as the NHS is struggling now unless the doctors say you cant for different health reasons Tigger

Finally got a date for my wife's flu jab on Friday and will combine this with a shopping trip in town. No we don't wear masks or hide away despite our illnesses and look forward to life returning totally to normal. Did not need a mask at my my GP's thankfully and with hospital appointments no mask required. Despite hospitals being the biggest risk to catch diseases but low and behold dentists and vets still demand masks bizarrely. But I do carry my badge bought off eBay for pennies for an exemption of mask wearing. Overall it is an individual right/choice to wear a mask and no one should question an individual's right to choose!

I am now allowed to have a Flu vaccine as well as Covid Booster, as I have completed 4 weeks on very high dose of 60mg Predinsolone. Hopefully I am a little less immunosuppressed now. Got Booster booked for this Saturday and Flu jab for Monday. yes, I will continue to wear mask in shops and hospital and doctors surgery. I don't go in any public places any way. Only to the supermarket very early as it opens, a quick in and out.. As i have to be on Steroid treatment for 2 years, I have to continue to follow the protocols of Hands, Face and Distance.

@robjmckinney I hope that you have changed your mind now that we know even after both vaccinations, you can still get Covid and be very ill or can be asymptomatic and infectious to everyone around you!
We were in Norfolk Sept 11th - 18th, in a caravan at Caister. It was the first time since 2002 and we thoroughly enjoyed the sun (just one day of rain!), sand, sights and seeing the places we'd been for many years before. We used to stay at Vauxhall on Acle Road, but this holiday was paid for by 4cancer, a charity specialising in holidays for cancer patients and their families. I could happily live there!

@YorkshireJayne Hi Jayne,
We have not been wearing masks for nearly a year now, got my ebay exemption badge to keep the Covid fanatics away. Few of us vacinated suffer serious side effects now as hospital stays are rare within the Covid jabbed group, all down to luck.
We have just locked up our static for the winter and will be doing our usual hibernating during the winter months. Nice to know the cancer charities are offering something. During my cancer experience, when contacting the charities all they wanted was money offering no help. But got to agree we had a nice time in Norfolk and we got good use of my static this year in a six month stay. Such a change from a year in isolation stuck inside at home, stay safe!

@robjmckinney Wow! Nice that you have such a blasé attitude towards a potential killer for someone with a reduced immune system (like me!) I suppose you'd class me as a "Covid Fanatic" and I had both vaccinations by May this year, but I could potentially still be extremely ill with it, hospitalised or not. It is not "all down to luck", but if you want to look at it that way, well, good luck to you.
I have no idea which charities you contacted, at a guess, I'd say MacMillan, who have been worse than useless for me. I was told that I wouldn't have any extra costs because I'm not having treatment nor am I terminally ill by one of their "advisors" when I asked about a grant. The charity is a lesser known one and it was sheer luck that I found them, but I'm glad I did.

@YorkshireJayne Hi Jane,
I just wanted my life back as I am not going to live forever, wasting my life in the few years I have left is not an option for me. Looking at the figures Covid death rates and serious hospitalisations are very small in older age groups now they are vaccinated. Although there is a slight climb of hospitalitions due to the slow roll out in us old sick, lame and lazy it is the flu that is a bigger threat. Have they give us the right 4 strains or is the 6,000 expected deaths going to be a lot more.
So in other words we have more to worry as Covid slips down the threat list where heart disease and cancer etc. have returned to the top of the list. So Covid fanatics can hide away but my wife has been under threat of death for 20 years. Doctors have all said she should died many times, I survived cancer amongst other issues. Time limited, we had a fantastic full summer in Norfolk and hopefully will return for the whole summer next year. I don't intend to hide under my blankets but enjoy what time we have left, all individual choice, stay safe!

I have to go for an operation on my hand as I have Dupuytren's as my father had. Looking at the figures in hospital with covid 40% are double vaxed. Thankfully my wife and I are in good health and are on a break in the southeast. I can't have a meal in a hotel unless vaxed, but when I book a stay can have all my meals indoors. crazy rules. Many restaurants have outdoor areas that are covered in but are classed as "outdoors " Like robjmckinney we are going to enjoy the last few years of our lives, thankfully we have friends who are the same mindset as ours.and refuse to live in fear. This so-called "pandemic " has resulted in fewer deaths in our country With cancer the biggest killer and heart disease in second place . Life is not like a play there is no rehearsal

I've been thinking about this since I had my first jab 3 weeks ago.
I see many advantages in continuing to wear a face mask ~LESS pollution, less bugs leading to chest and other infections, lowering the risk of any other nasties getting in my system and finally not having to smell other peoples bad hygiene.
The disadvantages ~ facial expressions can't be seen (although this also has its positives), can't can't smell candles, new perfume etc. Saying that though it it's not compulsory this isn't really a major problem.
