I am on codydramol (max8) antidepressants and use gel. None of this deals adequately with pain in ankles and hands. My doctor has not followed through with suggestion from hospital pain clinic that I need investigation here. It is hard as this is in addition to osteo in back, creaky knees and 2 hip replacements. I have now spent £500 this year which I can’t afford on physiotherapy. This has helped me to understand the problems with my neck and feet and has strengthened my legs and core. I dread the future without this targeted help but the money has run out.

@glitterbug It is two years since I had a knee replacement. For the first few days it is very painful but that subsides and the pain will go away. I still have some pain but nothing like before. All I can say for me it was well worth it.

I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. My right knee needs replacing but consultant said there could be complications due to the RA. Not sure whether to risk it. Anyone else have this problem? My RA is controlled by weekly injections of Benepali and methotrexate and other associated drugs. Having had the injections for over 6 months there is improvement and I don't need to take the 8 co-codamol tablets I was taking beforehand. I only take the occasional one when pain becomes unbearable. Put on weight with steroid injections and now those out of my system want to lose the weight I have gained which obviously will help my condition. Any suggestions on food to eat which helps my condition?

I have a full hip replacement and Post Polio Syndrome. I am on Tramadol 500g, Co-codamol 30/500. They sort of work, but scared to say anything to my doctor. She keeps threatening to stop my pain-killer's every time I see her even though the Pain Clinic Nurse said she was amazed that was all I take. I try not to take many tablets, I worry they will stop working. I also have reflux and osteoarthritis and numerous allergies.

I am currently taking Naproxen 250mg tablets for lower back pain (muscular); I must admit I'm not impressed.
Hoping to go for physio on 18th July, 2018! Hope this works instead.

I was involved in a major car accident in October last year.I went to my GP about severe headaches, two days later. I was given a repeat prescription for more Tramadol. The following week I went back as the headaches seemed to be getting worse. I was told to, just keep taking the tablets. By that evening the pain was so bad, I referred myself back to Accident and emergency at my local Hospital. My B.P. was throught the roof, and when the doctor found out I had been given Tramadol, he went ballistic. He told me I should NOT have been prescribed an opioid medication while I was suffering with concussion. I didn't know.

Further to my earlier comment on here, it is now two and a half years since my knee replacement. Corrective surgery has not been done as my consultants clerical team had sent my records to archives He has now referred me for a second opinion from another specialist During this time I have now got arthritis in both hips and hands. I was sent for a nuclear Xray in January this year. I was very hopeful of fi
nding what this would show but last Tuesday I went to see my new consultant and the xrays have never been sent to him Now waiting another three months before I can see him again I'm seriously considering a complaint to the medical ombudsman This has gone on too long.

After no success with paracetamol for osteoporosis, the doctor agreed to give me codeine, but am told to take it sparingly... I must admit this helps a lot better to relieve the pain for a few hours!

Just to have a few days or weeks without pain, and the breathlessness. Each day seems an effort. Get fed up going to front door getting breathless. Doctor, gave up going, no good.

Hi. New to the group,I have ostiiarthritis plus sciatica and tendonitis. For this happy arrangement I'm on morphine patches ,have been for around 20 years. Last night which makes the 3rd Time ever I was cold turkey as the heat just peels away the patches by making me sweat more moist than anything . But I have an arrangement that I have 4extra 5mg patches for as and when I need them cos if you run out before the alloted date boy ,are you in trouble. And going cold turkey at the thanks to the NHS is just great. The hell can i do to stop them coming off my arm , and they are taped on. But that's my night last night ,shaking twitching sweating as the house is like an oven an to top it all, I've been in a flare up for the last week. So if any one out there goes through the same ,ehatr do you do if you have no patch?????

Hi, all I can say is the meds help for a while, it's all about knowing what your pain tolerance is. And no t taking meds all the time. Stretches physiotherapy etc always made mine worse 1 hour session would put me on my back for 2 days. Every week for 6 months they never listen when you tell them.

There are different types of pain and ainti-inflammatory medications that can help you reduce pain due to osteoarthritis. Analgetics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, corticosteroids... which type has you used and how did it help?
At what moment did you start taking medication and how long did it/has it lasted? Have you experienced any side-effects?
Thank you in advance for sharing your stories
