Hello, I have to use testing strips at the moment just twice a day,,as I am getting lazy, and a bit fed up with whole thing. There are discussion posts on the Diabetes .co.uk forum site regarding the problems about these. Some people get them without any problem and some are told you are on Metformin, so you do not need to test and then they get told the Hab1c test results are too high, then they don't know what to do,,,so some of them buy them as they want to know what is going on with what they can and cannot eat, confusion all around. Some people are buying them and getting the testing information they need.... I am currently using the True You Mini,,which was supplied to me,,,the strips are ok, the little lancets are a bit fiddly to get in and out of the little device and I have to be quick before the loaded strip runs out of time and then has to be re-in put to run the test strip. The Diabetes.co.uk also has the main part of the site where there are alsorts of information becomes available, and they offer free test meters for using. ttfn from Karen

I'm allowed 50 strips per year so can only check my blood once a week which I do at the same time every week & it's pretty consistent
at about 5.0 to 5.5 so everything seems ok . My A1C is 5.9.

I get 100 test strips every 2 months free on prescription because I use Insulin and take Metformin. I also accepted to use the Surgery practise Blood Glucose Meter and this is why I get test strips free. (They refused to provide me with test strips for the meter I bought, so I stopped using it) I test each day between 4 - 6 times, always do fasting and before bed sugar. I believe if you are not provided a blood glucose meter then you need to buy one. It is a vital and important piece of any Diabetics equipment. Diabetes is your condition and you need to be in control of it. Using a meter allows you to test against what foods you can eat and those foods to avoid.
