I also wake during the night, seems to either be for the loo or I am to hot but most times then have trouble getting back to sleep. My solution was helped a lot when my lovely other half bought me a Kindle light. I can now read when not asleep without having to have the light on and due to the cover I have on the kindle I can shade the light from his side of the bed so he is not disturbed.
I find that after reading for say half an hour I can then sleep again. On the plus side I can download lots of books for free so saves me a lot of money as well.

Does anyone have any advice on how deal with sleep issues? I'm new to this and my sleep is just terrible.

I wake umpteen times a night, I either need the loo, I'm too hot or I'm gasping for air.
I keep everything I need in the same place on my table so I don't have to turn the light on as that wakes me up more. I've found that a Vick inhaler (the type you stick up your nose) and a Vicks candle really help me to breathe easier while I'm sleeping. I've not found anything to help with the toilet trips yet but I'm working on it 🥴

I have emphysema, copd, have been put on seretide accuhaler 500 have one puff twice a day one montelukast one a night braltus accuhaler and ventolin, also at night have to take amitriptyline 2 at night and canderstartan one at night to help with my breathing so I can try and stop my continuous cough, but have to also take my cancer pill to and to stop my pain have to take paracetamol 4 times a day plus my other pills daily ,have a nose spray and my calcium to ,as my respiratory nurse and consultant dont want me on oxygen or a nebulizer as she wants me to try this it is helping but still find it hard to sleep with the pain of my fracture plus this has not helped with my PTSD low moods depression and anxiety in fact it has made everything worse. @Hippymum I have the same thing with the night urination! It's terrible! I've trying stopping liquids several hours before I go to sleep but it seems like nothing helps! My GP mentioned to me that some of the medications (especially aerosols) prescribed for COPD can interfere with our sleep, you'd think they would have figured out a solution for that in the trials for these things!

I know what you mean @mariejo I've got kidney problems as well so I'm on at least 3 litres a day. I try to get it all in as early as possible but it's almost impossible. I've developed restless legs as well so they wake me up every 4 hours so I have to smother them in Muscle Magic oil which stops them. There's no let up, it's either the bladder, the legs or not being able to breathe that wake me up and to make matters worse I have M.E so I'm permanently exhausted.
