Hello dear members,

While the Coronavirus epidemic concerns many across the UK (and Carenity members too), this I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of cancer, as we all know that patients can be weakened by their treatments.

Have you had any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you have any advice for others?

Hi Nige, sorry to hear about your partner. You are entitled to a second opinion and it sounds very much like you should ask for that. The doctors should explain as fully as you want to hear exactly what's happening and why!

Never be afraid to ask questions, if the doctor can't or won't answer demand to see another one.

@nigel3716 Nigel, I agree with @maddoglady‍ , please ask for a second opinion. Sometimes we have to insist with doctors to get proper guidance and treatment. I hope this coronavirus nonsense ends soon so you can get some answers. Keeping you and your partner in my thoughst. xx

Hi I had lung cancer 7 months and I have had a full lung removed at the moment I am in remission 🤞🤞 but not sure where I stand with the isolation bit any help???? Ps anyone going through lung cancer an Nedd a talk just shout thanks

@Courtney_J Thank you for the article! It answered a number of my questions!

@Mtello2‍ I would think that you should be in full isolation for at least the twelve weeks. I'm obviously not a doctor and I don't have lung cancer, but that sounds like you've been through an ordeal and should protect yourself. COVID is supposed to be very hard on the respiratory system. So glad you're in remission! Stay safe!

Hello all, I don't have much to add today, just feeling a bit anxious with all of this, especially living alone. I've been having a difficult time getting slots for home delivery, does anyone have any tips? Hope you all are well and are staying safe. xx

Hi brunette007

Depending on where you live, if you are undergoing treatment or are classed as clinically vulnerable you should be able to get priority for delivery. If you contact customer services at whoever your favoured supermarket is they should be able to help.

Many local groups are also coordinating themselves , we've set one up in our local village to help with food drops , pharmacy runs etc. That started with a local Facebook group, is there such a thing in your area?

Hi,

Following my partners diagnosis of pancreatic cancer She was told that she had to have a colonoscopy as they had suspicions of abnormalities in her bowel.

The colonoscopy came back clear which was good news But the surgeon that I conducted the colonoscopy said he was unhappy with the initial diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and felt it could be a Gist as it was or appear to be outside the pancreas and not inside.

He consulted a colleague who agreed with him and they are now further investigating.

.All the experts have now said they don’t know what it is and cannot make a definite diagnosis and have sent the biopsy sample to colleagues around the country.

She is now waiting to hear back for a definite diagnosis and hoping for treatment.

@maddoglady Thank you for the advice! I hadn't even thought to check Facebook, I'll check to see if something has been set up in my area.

@nigel3716‍ Oh that's wonderful to hear for your wife, though that is frustrating that it was probably a misdiagnosis. You must be both relieved but also frustrated as so much time has been lost and undue stress may have been caused. Crossing my fingers for you that the results come back quickly and they figure out what it is!
