When I told my children it was heartbreaking, my youngest son broke down in floods of tears and every day my husband took me for my treatment, and he emptied my drain that I had to wear he was an absolute god send I would have not got through it all without him he was my rock, but now I still get scared of it returning, I feel ugly don't feel like a woman anymore, still can't look at myself in the mirror and wear tops now as I have tried many artificial boobs but I don't feel comfortable wearing them so I don't bother but I do hate people looking at me incase it looks like they are staring and that does bother me and I am having counciling, but that will end soon so then I have nobody to talk to as talking about everything helps as my children won't talk to me about my illnesses because it upsets them, so I shall just have to get on with it, Tigger

Hi Tigger, how are you feeling?
It’s clear how much love and support your husband showed, it's such a blessing to have that kind of rock during such a tough time. I’m sorry to hear how difficult it’s been for you to feel comfortable and confident after everything. It’s completely normal to still be processing all of this, and you’re really strong for opening up about it.. You shouldn’t have to carry these feelings alone and even if counselling is ending, I hope you’re can find another outlet like maybe a support group or even connecting here more often. Hang in there, Tigger!

Hello everyone, 💪💖
After a mastectomy, it can be challenging to handle the reactions of others and reconnect with your own self-image. Every person responds differently to these physical and emotional changes.

How did you experience your loved ones' reactions after your mastectomy? What are your tips for regaining confidence and accepting your new body?
Whether you wear prosthetics, choose breast reconstruction, or learn to embrace your new appearance, there’s no single path. Sharing your experiences can offer support and strength to those going through similar moments.
Let’s discuss this with kindness and support. 💬💖
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity team 🌼
