I take 4x2.5mgtablets every Wednesday. I have had no side effects. I have blood tests every 3 months and see my rheumatologist once a year.

I was on 25 mg (10) tablets for a long time 5 + years with no side affects. I was taken off for a short while then put back on to 15mg(6) tablets. I get my blood tested every month. I have not experienced any side affects.

I was on 8 x 2.5mg methotextrate for around 5 years, then injections of the same amount. I was ok to start with but after about 3 years started getting side effects. I was often sick and felt so ill that I would take the tablets on a Friday and spend the weekend feeling too ill to get out of bed. I now take Biologic injections and feeling 100% better.

I started off on tablets then went onto injections. I did the injections for about 18mths then could no longer face giving them to myself it was making me sick, so I'm now back on the tablets coming up for three years.
I take 25mg (10) tablets weekly then to stop side effects I also take 5mg Folic acid one per week and then 200mg Hydroxychloroquine 1 daily. I have a blood test every month and see the rheumatology nurse and my consultant twice a year. 6mths nurse then 6ths consultant. I have had a few side effects overs the years but it could also be due to my other complaints. I am diabetic and are now waiting for a gall bladder op.

I started on tablets but they made me very sick, they put me on injections which was great for a while. Still felt sickly but not as bad but my liver function kept going too high and then drop. I have been taken off it for now as they are concerned for my liver. So now just on leflunomide on it's own - still feel sickly and exhausted as before. Had another hip injection (3 in total) as getting pain.

I should take 6 x 2.5mg methotrexate once a week. I feel quite sick & not myself so recently stopped taking them when I was on holiday & didn't want to feel so bad. I can't get back to taking them as it's a horrible feeling. I dopant know what to do about this as for the last 8 months I've had terrible pain in right hip ( resurfaced) Physio want me to do exercises but find them so painful my muscles get so tight it's excruciating.

Hello
two years ago arthritis was diagnosed. I was operated on at the right ankle.
I have a lot of pain in my left ankle and lately I have a lot of pain in my whole body.
At GP they just give me painkillers.
Sleepless nights, I feel my ankles stiff and sore. I work every day and sometimes it is very difficult to have to go to work.
I work in a nursery school I am 54 years old. Should i ask to GP to referral me to Orthopedic?

@Jill884 I know how you feel! I came off my 20ml methotrexate injections over xmas to give myself a break and a chance to enjoy xmas (with my kids and husband who must be fed up seeing me feeling ill half the week every week!) and then got the flu over new year and then went to Uganda at end of jan for two weeks, so basically kept finding excuses not to go back on it! I hate taking it, it makes me feel so nauseous and exhausted and generally awful for at least two days a week after taking it and not even sure if it makes that much difference! Mind you in the end I have forced myself to take it again as was getting so much pain in fingers, wrists and foot that was willing to see if it would make a difference. So far just feel horrible again but only been back on it for two weeks. Think I have a trapped nerve in my neck now as well or could that just be the ra attacking that part of me now! So painful whatever it is! Oh the joys of this disease! Know your not alone though and we’re all battling this together. Can’t help wishing for a better solution than methotrexate though 😭. Take care.

I couldn’t get any benefit from methotrexate and since changing my diet and taking recommended supplements I am no longer having to take any prescription medication...try reading Healing Arthritis by Susan Bloom...it’s so insightful.

Have you already been treated by methotrexate for your Rheumatoid Arthritis?
If yes, tell other patients about your experience: what dosage were your prescribed, whether you have had any side effects, etc.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
