I've not slept properly in years. I'm currently on melatonin but I'm still not getting a decent amount of sleep. I've moved onto the spare room as I was waking hubby too many times. During the night I wake 3-4 times to go to the bathroom and then can't get comfy again so can't drop off again.
When I'm in a flare I can sleep right through two or three days. I just don't understand it.
I managed to get off all the prescription painkillers by using MCC products. I use nearly everything they make as they work so well for me. I use Warrior Balm, then twenty minutes later I apply Muscle Magic. These together dial the pain right down to a manageable level. I apply Sleepy Head at night after an epsom salt bath and these really relax me so I can grab a few hours. Problem is, I can only have a bath once or twice a week.
I'm also using mindfulness and guided meditations to try to help but my stupid brain keeps wandering off, thinking about other stuff! I bought a Sleep Stick (not the expensive one they're advertising on Facebook) which did help for a while until it stopped working, I'm waiting for a replacement to arrive at the moment. I've also got Lavender oil in the diffuser. I think I've tried everything over the years but the MCC products have worked the best.

I have had trouble sleeping at night since I spent a long time in intensive care following a sub-arrachnoid haemorrhage in 1970 and numerous problems related to that. Despite the nurses' best efforts, I found it very noisy of a night (not complaining because of the wonderful job they were doing), just saying. I haven't had a really good night's sleep since. However, since developing fibromyalgia, sleep is becoming an extremely scarce commodity - ridiculously so!!!

Fibromyalgia carries a catalog of issues, pain, nerve pain anywhere on the body, sweating, IBS, sudden deafness, pain in eyes, itching skin, intermittent shooting pains anywhere all these have and can cause sleepless nights. I tend to have 3-4 bad nights then a good one but the bad ones make me feel so unwell.

I have not had a full week's sleep since 1996.

@Hippymum hi, how long has it been since you got off medication? Do you apply MCc products daily? I've been thinking of making my first order, but still in doubts.
my sleeping has never been great either, always one thing or another, but I guess I got used to it being as it is.

I've been off all the painkillers now for almost two years. I use MCC every day, just once a day now. The products work to dial down the pain to a manageable level by using them every 20 minutes for the first few days. After that it's just daily maintenance to keep the pain away. I use their bath/shower products and the shampoos/conditioners too. They work amazingly for me. They have an amazing support group on Facebook of their users.

I have always been a light sleeper so when fibro pain started I was already constantly sleep deprived. Then with having hormone therapy after breast cancer nights became even more painful. Not wanting to take anything to help I struggled for so long with lack of sleep and exhaustion (which is now the norm, sleep or not). But then my sister told me she takes a Phenergan antihistamine to help her sleep so I asked my GP and he said it would be okay. But I only take a half tablet or I feel very groggy next day, which on top of fibro fog wasn’t good. Now I find that half tablet gets me to sleep (though not all night). But it’s better than nothing! Such a simple remedy 😊
