Yesterday I went for bone density scans due to continued back pain, and the diagnosis of Osteoporosis was confirmed!
This was a bit of a 'shock to the system', but expected after early menopause, HRT, over 30 years of Phenytoin and Carbamazepine for epilepsy and more. I am so grateful to your medical service for finding this out so soon. The radiographer and sisters present were great explaining how it affects the person and gave me Fact Sheets to read for further information.
I don't understand much about it so am trying to find more details from other patients and how it affects them, i.e. the level of the 'T' Reading etc.
In the meantime will be doing my own research; how great Google can be!

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
