Hi @Maryquitecontrary
How are you today?
It seems like there is a combination of health factors that your doctor has considered before making the switch to Duloxetine. I don't know which other members have gone through a similar treatment plan, but I will tag a few members to see if they can offer up some of their personal experience.
@Un(lucky)ducky @Allymal @Jhiggy64 @Liverpoolsm1 @PyroLind @Tufnellpark @Sweetsista4u @Nanakt @55westo @Pete1966 @angelaconnor1 @Debbiet @lisa.staley @Kate44 @HelenHarper @Katyloubee82 @KymPaterson @Mandymoo5467 @Foxxxxy @Kezza3511 @Janineholland @Pebbles113 @Khanie @Tiger1924 @Chloe85 @Grisdale @Rwthi1 @Robatkins @Kjcherrybomb @Adshel1985 @DeeHarry05 @Cordeliamcgurk27 @Siobhanb @Herb77
Have you taken Duloxetine for fibromyalgia? What was your experience like? Have you taken Citalopram? How do they compare?
Any experience you can offer @Maryquitecontrary is helpful!
Take care,
Lizzi

@LizziB I used Duloxetine for about 6 months for fibromyalgia. Started off at 60mg and reduced to 30mg. I felt they helped to start with because I was stressed not knowing what was wrong with me. Once I had a proper diagnosis with a rheumatologist I stopped taking them as they weren't really helping the pain.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

Having had fibromyamgia for almost 3 years my GP has just changed me from Citalopram 20mg (which I’m tapering off) to Duloxetine (which I start next week). I already had joint and muscular pain, morning stiffness; etc,etc etc, that comes with fibro and now, having been diagnosed with early breast cancer with surgery, radiotherapy, I have to take Exemestane (hormone therapy) everyday for five years. This therapy strips all oestrogen away from the body resulting in even more joint and muscle pain . I’m now 64 so didn’t know I had any oestrogen left! Hence the decision to change to Duloxetine. Anyone else in the same situation and did the Duloxetine help?
Thanks.
