I know there has been talk to change Rheumatoid arthritis to something else to make the distinction between this and osteo more clear. I have tried hydroxychloroquine but sadly didn't work for me. I hope it does the trick for you.

I take Celebrex (celecoxib) and it has helped greatly, I have Osteoarthritis I don't know about the wear and tear part, as I started with this in my early thirty's, Celebrex also helps with my Fibromyalgia pain too.

Hi everyone. I've had osteoarthritis (OA) which started in my mid-20's, especially in my fingers and neck and the joints affected have probably increased over the past 40 or so years. Although I was relatively young when it first appeared, this "runs" in my Mothers' family and is often inherited. I think the best advice I can give to anyone is to remain as active as physically possible i.e. seek reliable and valid information from medical personnel, Arthritis organisations etc re: what specific exercises may help maintain maximum flexibility, hydrotherapy, swimming etc may also help with this and aid pain relief. Never give up, try to remain as positive and strong as possible and although, not always easy, a sense of humour can be invaluable. x

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!
