@nameless Hello nameless, thank you for starting this discussion. This is a great question, let me tag some members who may be able to provide some insight on this.
Hello everyone, I hope you don't mind that I've tagged you! Do you know anything about this? Are vaccines safe for people with MS?

I also have MS & get flu jabs every year with no adverse effect. Once they find a vaccine for CoVid-19 I will ask to get it done.

@nameless I think I remember hearing that as well at the very beginning, but for easily the past 10+ years I've been getting my flu jab and my GP and neurologist have both encourage me to do so. Fingers crossed that they eventually figure out a COVID vaccine! xx

Hello everyone,
How have you been lately?
Now that the flu season is quickly approaching, I think this thread would be particularly relevant to us.
Do you normally get a flu jab or have you been advised not to? If so, do you count on getting vaccinated this year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic?

To learn a bit more about the 2020-2021 flu vaccine, you can read our new article on the subject here: Flu Season 2020-2021: What do you need to know before getting vaccinated?
Take care,
Courtney

Hi everyone, I thought I'd come back here with another query as things have progressed. Have any of you heard from your GP about whether we can receive any of the vaccines for COVID? I haven't been able to get through to mine on the phone. I've heard that some of the vaccines are not advised for people with certain allergies so I'm curious. Have any of you gotten it yet?

@nameless Hello nameless, thank you for your comment.
As of now, MS patients appear to be included in the groups eligible for the vaccine, as neurological conditions have been included in the list of long-term conditions. There might be exceptions to this, however, depending on the advice MS team. Do keep trying to get in touch with them, they should be able to let you know if the vaccine is appropriate for you. We've created a pinned discussion here that we'll try to keep updated with the latest information on vaccine eligibility: COVID-19 vaccination campaign: Who is currently eligible for the vaccine?
Has anyone heard from their doctor or MS team about the vaccine? Do you intend to get it when it because available to you?

Hello all, I've had MS for many many years now (sometimes I almost lose count!) and I believe I remember at the beginning the neurologist told me that I couldn't be vaccinated anymore. No flu jab, nothing if I were to travel somewhere where that's necessary, etc. Does anyone know anything about this? Has this changed in recent years? At a time where we may eventually have a vaccine for COVID-19, I've been wondering about it.
If I remember rightly I think the neurologist said that my immune system was attacking itself so it wouldn't be wise to introduce a virus to it, even if it's for inoculation purposes.
What do you all think? Thanks in advance!
