My lupus is mine & mine alone. I suppose that's quite a sad thing to admit to. But having had this illness from early adolescence (age.9) my lupus likes to play tricks on me, that's how I see it anyway. I suddenly came to a realisation it's mine - I have I live with lupus ,rather I prefer to say it lives alongside & within me. Overly complicated I know. Over the years I have taught myself easy yoga exercises. Breathing, sleep, calming techniques along with dealing with day-to-day life. It's taking me a while but I think I finally worked it out (haha). Learning all these techniques has helped me immensely with dealing daily struggles. I've learnt so much about me. Try and go with the flow, what will be will be, what has happened has happened & I can deal with the next obstacle. Admittedly it does involve a lot of diary entries, all this has amazed me as I've learnt so much about me. I've used apps Calm, Insight Timer & Spotify (really). It's not been an easy road at times, but it's a road I feel more able to deal with. YOU CAN DO THIS.

I had a hip replacement 16 months ago due to osteoarthritis. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Yes I was not looking forward to everything post op, but I am now 100% mobile and after not being able to walk any distances I now enjoy walking again and I've managed to lose 2.5 stones. Totally pain free and I've had lots of comments about how much happier I look - my face was obviously showing my pain. If you have any questions please ask!

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? 😊
Lupus doesn’t just affect the body, it can take a serious toll on mental health, too. Many people living with lupus experience depression, anxiety, mood changes, or cognitive issues like brain fog, trouble concentrating, or memory lapses. These challenges may be caused by the emotional burden of the illness, the effects of inflammation on the brain, or even the side effects of medications like corticosteroids.
Unfortunately, mental health struggles in lupus are often overlooked, even though they can have a huge impact on quality of life. That’s why it’s so important to talk about them and find the right support, whether through therapy, stress management techniques, or medication adjustments.
What about you? Have you noticed a connection between lupus flares and your mental health?
What helps you cope with anxiety, depression, or brain fog?
Do you seek mental health support as part of your lupus management?
