In November 18 woke up and had a feeling that something was wrong. Had no symptoms, just a feeling. Called the doctor and seen him and told him I think I have lung cancer. He was taken a back and asked what symptoms I had, I told him none but was a smoker. He reassured me that I couldn’t possibly have lung cancer as I have any symptoms.
christmas past and January began, but I still had this doubt. I have a dog Kayla she is like my shadow always by my side, she started to act strange nudging my right side. I could tell she looked worried. So I took myself to the A+E department explained my feelings and how my dog has been acting. With a smirk I was allowed to see a doctor. Had blood tests chest X-ray all came back normal. I was discharged with a letter stating chest X-ray nil acute.
2 day later I was called to return to hospital Immediately for a CT scan. As the radiographer has now reviewed the x-ray they did two days prior and found that I had a mass on my right lung. And that’s where it all began the whirlwind so by this time we are in early February 2019 CT showed that there was a round mass at the base of my upper right lobe. So had to normal PET And CT needle biopsy and on the 26th of February I was diagnosed with stage one non-small cell lung cancer squeamish cell type.
and CT needle biopsy and on the 26th of February I was diagnosed with stage one non-small cell lung cancer squeamish cell type.
So not only was I dismissed a few times prior to diagnosis no one really believed me when I said I had lung cancer with no symptoms and my dog told me soSo I had my lung removed the top right lobe and the Tumour they removed turned out to be 48 mm but they removed all but as a precaution they wanted me to have chemotherapy ciplatin and vinerelbine Chemotherapy 4 rounds. I can now say I am nearly 10 months NED. I’m doing really well so my advice to anybody is trust your gut instinct And always take no for an answer and more importantly trust your animals they know you better than anyone

@Michael_B I’m doing well I’m nearly 10 months NED. Just taking everyday as it comes. Just find it difficult to not worry about the cancer coming back.

@Kelly0121 Hello Kelly0121, I can imagine how scared you must be. I have created a new discussion in our Treatments for lung cancer group and have tagged some members who may be able to give you some advice.
What has your/your loved one's treatment for lung cancer been like?
Wishing you all the best, and please do keep us updated when you receive your results.
Take care,
Michael

Hello everyone,
How are you today? I thought I would revive this discussion so we can continue talking about the symptoms of lung cancer!
And if you haven't seen it already, we've just published an article about the first signs of lung cancer. You can read it here: What are the first signs of lung cancer?
And what about you? What type of symptoms did you have before your diagnosis? Were they like what is described in our article?

Hello,
As the title says, what symptoms did you/your loved one experience concerning lung cancer? The symptoms can vary amongst different patients, from shortness of breath to a relentless cough.
What was your first indication that something was wrong? Please share :)
