Hi Jennifer, I have lung cancer in both lungs. I am feeling very anxious as my oncologist won't give me palbocilib after a very bad infection called Cdiff. I have only had 2 cycles of drug in 6 months since diagnosis in June. I also take venlafaxine. Find out if there are any support groups in your area. I like going to mine. We are the same, all have secondarys after breast cancer. All the best. Keep in touch. 😊

@denisejames Thanks for the response. I've been looking into support groups for family members of cancer victims because finding a private counsellor seems like a lot of work. Did you find your group through your oncologist?

@denisejames Hey, thanks for getting back to me. Did your Xmas go alright? This one was rough, mostly spent in the hospital with mum, but she's back for the moment, thank goodness. Thanks for the info. I haven't had time to look yet with everything going on, but I def will.

Glad you're finding the support group useful. Roy Castle runs some support groups across the UK and British Lung foundation also has 'breathe easy' groups in some places. In the area I live there are no hospices, no Maggie's centres or similar. I know some people find support from the Macmillan or Roy Castle nurse led helpline but personally I found the face to face relationship with a counsellor immensely helpful. Several years down the line I now come into contact with other cancer patients/survivors in research work and we are able to speak very openly about our fears, anxieties and also have a laugh - celebrating/sharing/commisserating in shared symptoms, recovery issues irrespective of the tumour/cancer type. good luck

Hello @JanetteR
Thank you for sharing this very valuable information. Has anyone else had experience with Roy Castle? Or other support groups to recommend in your area?
Take care,
Michael

Hi, has anyone here been to a counselor or a psychologist after they were diagnosed with lung cancer or any cancer? Don't you think that's something that should be offered as soon as your diagnosed?
My mum is really down and the rest of the family too after her diagnosis.
